Had to start quite carefully with the ankle. Especially downhills.

Everything went quite well up until leg 7. Wrong route choice and then also something very strange at the control point. Might have to return there in 6 years to check the place.

Surprised I could run the whole way, even the steepest uphills.

Return to Portalegre. For comparison, I urge you to open both of the maps below. First one is from this year, below that from 2011. E.g. 7-8 hill (2017) and 4-5 (2011). Quite the difference!

Beginning was good and running felt better than I thought it would after yesterday's race. But then after #6 I twisted my ankle on a bloody grass field... About 3 legs of walking and then felt that ankle was OK to jog.

Not sure was the route to #3 the best but at least didn't get caught to fences or spiky bushes.

Only real mistake to #12. The left spur was for some reason much clearer than the right were the cp was.

Fitness is bad and also the condition of my ankle was poor. So this trip was more of a training camp than trying to compete with others.

Rather good navigation. The fences ruined the good middle terrain quite badly.

NAOM 2017 training.

When I was booking the accommodation I remembered last year's NAOM terrain was somewhere there. When we were maybe ½km away from the house, All-in said "Now we're on the map". And right after that we saw the trip mascot "ichneumon".
