K18 - the highlight of the season

First wasn't expecting much of my performance but then heard rumors that this year it would be more "technical" / task oriented so had my hopes up.

Let's start with the fact that 2 days before the race, the organiser informed us that the race outfit is: drag queen. At this point I was hoping we'd be somewhere in the deepest woods. I was wrong... The moment we left E75 motorway from Vierumäki junction, I kinda knew what was coming up.

First task was something I'd recomend to any of you reading this to organise in some kids o-school or similar. Also if you need to put drag queens on move, this works. Jungle Race app is all you need. We needed to collect all possible fruits (5) with Miguls Reituls.

Second was to go and put sprint controls with real map and then draw that map to the team partner with blank paper and a pen. I had quite a lot of problems at the end. I put Mikko's drawing to the QR-map's bottom for you to compare ;) (had to put a smiley in case Mikko reads this)

After this it was map with quite a few things missing (to NW from Vierumäki). It was an easy task put getting the start was hard. We really struggled with the penalty "recovery drinks" we got from not collecting all controls in the previous assignment.

Then some satellite picture navigating. On every control there was a google maps / satellite picture of the next control. Luckily double Tomi team was there as well since they knew the surroundings. I followed them with all I got.

Next task was no surprise. Snow golfing at range. Team's idea to hit the net at 50m marker by less than 6 swings altogether. We both swang twice and were by far the best. only one penalty beer.

Last leg. 1984 Jukola map and route (4-5 leg) with shortcut. I ran out of energy/direction at #5. It was a struggle against dark & cold after that. Had to keep on running eventhough I didn't have a clear picture where I was all the time. At this state of mind it took 20min for me to find the freaking finish. But oh did that warm food and sauna feel good after all that!

So that the results would be at least somewehre in safe:
1) Tömäys the Paula Koivuniemi
2) Miia
3) me (Always the brides maid... ~4th time on the podium, never winning)

Running intervals 1:04:17 intensity: (4:06 @0) + (20:57 @1) + (12:46 @2) + (5:30 @3) + (4:36 @4) + (16:22 @5)
ahr:144 max:181 shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14

30/20/10 intervals so that the first 30s with slow pace, 20s of rather fast, 10s of warp speed. That done 5x, then 2min of recovery.

Had planned to do this set 6 times but in the 5th one I had no difference in 30s and 10s pace so it was better to DNF.
