Orienteering race 43:23 [4] **** 5.0 km (8:41 / km)

POM 2nd day.
The easy first four controls were easy, and the next 14 hard ones were hard.
GPS curve can speak for itself, so all I'm going to comment is that I read #12 to be on a downhill and not uphill.

Route

Running 1:00:00 [2] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)

Visit to Spain. Quite a lot of hills...

POM day 1.
So this was it. Yet again another season opening in Portugal. Weather and back problems tried to put down the feeling but still I was pumped up.
I started the same time as Minttu and I was surprised to see myself in front of her near the #1. She lured me to her #1 and season's first mistake was done. After the first cp I saw sulttaani standing and waiting for me. We continued together. #2 and 3 went well and a small mistake to #4. In there I had to guide sulttaani to the cp. Might've been the first time in my life. 5-7 all good. On #8 I went well 99,5% of the way but stopped one bush too early. I would like to say that the cp was a bit lower than in map.. 9-12 well, with some help from sulttaani. On 13 he said that "go to the road" and I went. One spur too early off and yet another mistake in this very easy terrain. Next ones went well up until on #19 I got one bush away from finding the cp straight up, but ended up using almost 3min getting my thighs all bloody. Again the easy end went well.
Not too happy about the performance considering the level of the terrain. Hard to tell how much the back problem restrained my pace.

Hiking 1:00:00 [1] 8.0 km (7:30 / km)

Trip to spain. Or maybe not. We visited this rock (pic) and the boundary marker (pic) but some references say that the border goes on the road to the right.

Orienteering 35:00 [1] 3.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra stud

Model Event 3.
World's biggest rock was in this terrain. Humongous. I've seen appartment buildings smaller than that. And the funny thing is that you could run under it.
4 PM

Orienteering 30:00 [1] 2.5 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra stud

Model Event 1.
Right after the first one.
After 2/3 it started a hailstorm. It got a bit chilly.

Skiing 1:20:00 [1] 17.0 km (4:42 / km)

No test run cause of the back problem and POM. Instead I went to ski on the very well gliding snow (the degrees went to positive side for a brief moment and then back to negative).

Monday run with Assu and Hämis. First goal was to go and check "The Loop". Then to Renkomäki and back. It was chilly here and there and my portugal type of clothing wasn't quite enough.
