Orienteering 1:18:46 [2] *** 7.65 km (10:18 / km)

Last thursday's Turun seudun yökuppi route in the last sunday's Ankkurirastit terrain.
Brilliant weather, brilliant terrain and brilliant course. Nothing more to say.

Orienteering (contour-map) 1:10:00 [2] *** 5.4 km (12:58 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

Contour+blue-map training at some years old Halikko-viesti terrain. Started really well but third of the way done, Koikka started babbling and I lost my focus totally. Didn't get the hang of it since.
3 PM

Running warm up/down 45:00 [1] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

4 PM

Running race 50 [5] 0.3 km (2:47 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

Running to the map and back. Three times.

Orienteering race 10:00 [5] ***** 1.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

Camp race produced by me and executed by Timpuri. Don't want to brag, but a brilliant concept!
It went something like this:
At first Timpuri gave handicaps for everyone. The youngest and the girls got more so they started first. Idea was to run 50m to the map, run back and draw as much as you can remember from the map / course to a blank paper. Then run back to the map and so on. When you think you have drawn enough to the blank paper, you take it with you and try to run the course. The winner was the first in the finish.
Me and few other H21-guys started the whole thing 6min after the youngsters. I used three runs to draw a 5 cp / 1.5km course. Three first controls went well mostly cause there was all the time people in front of me. Then on #4 I was going all well to the cp but started circling just because aaanttol and Timo was doing it also. Found the control on my own but way too late.
But something positive also. First time in months that I could give all out. I even closed aaanttol's 45s gap after #3. Then again, this led to exhaustion in next training...
5 PM

Orienteering 27:53 [3] *** 2.8 km (9:58 / km) +170m 7:38 / km
shoes: VJ Panther

Idea was to run the same course twice. Even one time was close to be enough..
Without the huge climbs this would've been really nice terrain / training. But two trainings already done, I didn't enjoy it that much.

Orienteering 29:53 [2] * 2.8 km (10:40 / km) +170m 8:11 / km
shoes: VJ Panther

Second time the same route. Didn't use the map as much as I should've. In fact I think I took a glimpse of it three times the whole way.

10mila pre-story of 3rd & 4th leg.
6 PM

Running warm up/down 5:00 [1] 0.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

Orienteering 1:24:44 [3] *** 9.0 km (9:25 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

Start of LS-37 spring training camp.
First four legs we went with Jusbet so that the other one in front was told by the guy behind where to go. Like: "after that boulder you should see a spur, go from the left side of it towards a bog...". Then after that some line-orienteering and after that a 5.0km route with 9 cp. For some reason the map TuS gave is was from year '99 (2007 Kevätyönviesti was held in this terrain so there should be more up-to-date version also..) and the map was full of flaws. In one point the sun was warming up my back, I had perfectly even basement under my feet and birds were singing in choir. Have to say I had a smile on my face.
10 PM

Running warm up/down 7:00 [1] 1.0 km (7:00 / km)

Orienteering (night-o) 31:30 [4] *** 3.3 km (9:33 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

Same map as few hours ago. "Relay training" with Hämis and aaanttol. I had the longest gaffling at 1st cp and thus took the last spot. I also kept it cause I had no chance in keeping up with those guys.

Yökuppi 2
Tracking LIVE is on at 21:30 (20:30 CET). Mass start and this time I mean MASS start. Record braking attendance an A-route. My throat has been sore for three days now but I think I'll try 100% pace.
9 PM

Running warm up/down 25:00 [1] 3.0 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

10 PM

Orienteering race (night-o) 54:30 [5] 5.9 km (9:14 / km)
shoes: VJ Panther

Yökuppi 2
Massive mass start for A-route and I enjoyed it a lot. But what I didn't enjoy was my pace in the forest. Actually this was the first time that I was really pissed with my current physical fitness and the three week "rest". This all culminated to the moment when I had big troubles to follow Jusbet and Karetjoki (no offence). Fortunately the pace got a bit better towards the end (or I kept the same pace and others got tired..).
All in all this was a brilliant dress rehearsal for Mila. Only one real mistake (maybe 2-2½min) at #8. I read map just enough so that if train's leaders hesitated, I stepped up and took the helm. But this didn't happen too often.

Running 50:00 [2] 9.09 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer XIII

I'm kinda proud of myself how I got out of the door this late. Almost 10h workday, after that cycling to Motonet and Tapanila.

Running long 1:47:00 [2] 17.4 km (6:09 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer XIII

Monday run with Sulttaani, Assu & Hämis. Uphills felt quite bad but otherwise pretty good. Towards the end I started to feel lack of energy (I had eaten only spinach soup 8h ago). After the run I still had to cycle home and without Assu's Herbalife energy bar that he happened to find from the back seat of his car, I would most likely lie at the bottom of some ditch right now.
