Running warm up/down 15:00 [1] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Jalas S4

Orienteering race 1:06:54 [5] *** 8.5 km (7:52 / km)
shoes: Jalas S4

Finnish relay champs at Liperi.
Whatta terrain! Without some small areas with cut branches it would've been awesome. Almost total wilderness with varying terrain types.
At the change over Pexi gave me two tips, straight to #1 and a route choise to #5. While running to #1 I was in agony. Eventhough I had warmed up pretty good, the first uphills were a disaster (there were people passing me on both sides). But then near the control I saw M.Reitti and right after H.Räty (both are better than me and they had left 2-5min before me) and my mind cleared up. Suddenly I was in top form.
Eventhough Räty is normally a bit faster runner, this time I led the field. We had different forkings but always met at the gathering controls.
At #7 some VaajTe guy attached his car to our train. We punched the same time at #8-11 and only to the #11 we made a small mistake. Actually we ran almost together all the way to the finish but with a forking on #12. I'm almost pleased about the run, but not entirely. Somehow towards the end I felt like VaajTe/Räty speed wasn't enough for me but still I sticked with them... Well, my km-pace was the same as Jani's and he was pleased with his run so mine can't be that bad either.
I think finally after 20 years of orienteering, I've realised what needs to be done for solid performance. My proceeding is still pretty pausing once in a while but I'm not making any huge mistakes which have been my trademark for whole my career (and no one has the permission to start to talk anything about Hälvälä Yökuppi!!). And my self confidence has risen up quite a few nothces. E.g. all the time when we three ran together, I made my own decisions which is really rare.

Apparently KR isn't able to build up a RG so here's the route

The whole team's performance was good. Pexi's especially. Compared to this millenium's LS-37 H21 results, this 36th place was a big improvement!

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 4.5 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Jalas S4

Orienteering race 27:57 [5] *** 3.39 km (8:15 / km)
shoes: Jalas S4

Finnish middle distance champs qualification at Savonlinna.
I had a good feeling about this and I executed the feeling also. Only one notable mistake to 2nd last control. I'm very pleased about this run. Too bad I was the only LS-37 member in heat 4 so I can't compare the speed to them.

B-final
I started the same time as Wilho, 1min behind Tukiainen and 2min behind Jusbet. First object was to keep Wilho in near distance, preferably behind. Second was to catch Tukiainen and third was to catch Jusbet with help from Tukiainen.
Following PelPo guy to #1 was a mistake. Then I realised I need to orienteer myself. Second was OKish, third good. Then came Aki Ylitalo. I tried to follow him for a while but then I saw Tukiainen's back and settled for much nicer speed following him for a while. He made a small mistake on a way to #6 and after that I decided to take control.
Rest of the way was good. With my own route choise to #12 (everybody else went more straight) I managed to get rid of Wilho and the rest of the way I didn't run full speed and looked several times behind me to see whether he was closing on me. He was not. With better ranking points from the morning, the ranking comp against him is in good shape. Only Night champs to go.

Note

One picture says more than a thousand trainings.(->)
Tomorrow's qualification will be crucial. In B-final we have the same starting time with Wilho but I'm not running full speed. Gotta save something for the relay.

LIVE - brought to you by Yökuppi. Tonight at ~20:00 (19:00 CET). Another individual start so my start time can vary within a half an hour. This time I have no clue how many people there's (a)LIVE since the organizer is keeping the names to himself but my gadgets should work again. Hopefully certain JB is not competing. It would be nice to get over 700 points once in a while...
The cold is getting better but can't really say that my nose would be "Vapasti hengittävä" (almost impossible to translate) yet.

I just realised that next week's Yökuppi is at the same time as FC Lahti's game!! This is a tough call.. I thought after last year's few incidents Tuxi would've made it clear to Blatter that no international nor national games during the Yökuppi.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)

Only up. The race itself contained the down-part.

Orienteering race (night-o) 53:28 [3] *** 5.4 km (9:54 / km)
(sick) shoes: Jalas S4

Yökuppi in sunday's competition terrain.
Again in the exact same place as in sunday's race, I got a really bad feeling about my condition but as on sunday, it faded away slowly. Straight away I realised that #1 is a tricky one and took it really carefully. I found it easily but this backfired quite badly. I catched Markku L and right after this made a small mistake to #2 and then a bit bigger one to #3. Markku got away and thus I was alone, I found #4 and 5 (could've been a tricky one) directly. Markku saw my lamp at the cp and caught me -> a mistake to #6, 7 , 8 and 9. I tried to get rid of Markku to #10 but made a Hirppa2009 type of mistake at the swamp. Then I thought that finally I'm alone but Jusbet caught me at the cp. He tried to lure me to different directions but I mainly kept my mind and got a good end to the race.
