From my perspective it was a lot better than the result/time may tell. Yesterday I decided to run today's route all the way under aerobic threshold and by this reduced speed, minimize the mistakes. Also my left knee experienced an impact injury in the beginning which reduced the speed even more.
And back to the first sentence. The only mistakes I did were caused by something other than my lack of consentration. On 9-10 there was a new trail (highway in other words) that misguided me off the path too early. After a while I realised that it wasn't the path in the map but couldn't back down anymore. Then on #11 I would like to put 50% of the mistake for the purple control point circle (I was closer to the cp than the GPS claims). It overlayed one crucial map symbol. And then after that, Esa Huttunen (21st in Finnish rank, I'm 347th) caught me and I thought I would get number 1 or 2 split times for the last controls but Esa had something other in his mind. He led me to my biggest mistake of the race and I was actually the one who realised where we were when we stood over 100m NE from the cp. Then also the end I followed him and it didn't go well either...
But all in all, I'm satisfied. It was a tricky terrain and most of the controls felt easy. For the first time in my orienteering career I might've realised what needs to be done to get a solid performance. During the next weekend we'll see if I'm just delirious at the moment.
