Running warm up/down 35:00 [1] 5.0 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Integrator

After the warm up I stood in the shade to wait my start. After a while I noticed that I wasn't the only one on that spot. Hundreds of ants were swarming around my feet. And they didn't leave it to swarming. They were bound to attack the guy standing next their nest. I thought I got rid of all of 'em but during the first three legs I got several more stings.

I was confident that when the distance grows, I'm at my turf. And in a way it was true. Running felt better all the time and some of the longer legs were pretty fluent orienteering. But thne there were some not that fluent..

My route
#1: I've started to take first controls a bit more carefully to get a good start, it paid of again
#2: everything fine until reaching the cp-circle surroundings
#3: it would be easy to blame the ants but I guess sometimes my head isn't just working at all, just like yesterday's #7, saw a Nyctereutes procyonoides for the first time in my life
#4-9: this was what I came to do here but unfortunately it lasted only one third of the race, not sure about the road to the #7 but altogether some good orienteering
#10: I was looking for that path but didn't see it, thus drifted a bit too right
#11-12: not the best but decent
#13: I was pretty much going to the cp when heard this one guy from my class asking someone where we are, he got the info and after reassuring that he was going to the cp-101, I joined him, rest you can see from the route drawing
#13-F: warm down

Sunday Patari football.
I was a left back/sometimes winger and on the other side there was a skilful 15kg more weighing guy attacking on my side. It was more of a strength training with him.

Before this weekend I thought that I'm at my best in this type of terrain but I guess I was wrong.
In warm up my legs felt awful. And probably due to this, the first climb right after start felt never ending.

My route
#1: OK, legs didn't take me anywhere but orienteering was fine
#2: I was pretty sure about the direction but distance tricked me
#3: best what I could offer for this route
#4: again close call
#5-6: normal
#7: I guess that since I have compass in my hand, I might as well use it sometimes.. while I was running east I somehow could see me in between the hills going south, then saw the road, on that road I positioned me one left corner too south and climb straight up to the wrong hill...

(rest day)

Maybe start of a cold, maybe not. We'll see tomorrow.
Brother is leading 6-4 this year's rivals. Have to win at least one this weekend to stay in the game.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Integrator

Actually this was freezin' up. I was much warmer while sitting in the car.

Orienteering race 1:13:03 [3] *** 6.4 km (11:25 / km)
shoes: VJ Integrator

Bad warm up led to dropping off the train at first butterfly. I saw no-one, and I mean NO-ONE, at last butterflies. I couldn't keep the pace up cause I really don't know how to run in a slippery boulderfield and the further I ran I was friggin' freezing. Maybe the t-shirt wasn't enough... My observation of weather being cold was seconded by my compass. There was a big bubble in it due to thermal contraction. My first ever injury-free-DNF was close. But maybe just because of it would've been the first one I didn't do it.
While driving back home I was sure I'll have 40C fever next day. But it looks like not. My heart is doing some "funny" stuff though...

Same ol'...
Fortunately this three day lasting work issue had a happy ending. After a quite some struggle this Dutch guy approved our work.
Tomorrow the first pollen free orienteering in a month. Though the short night sleeps compensate it quite a bit.

Note
(rest day)

It's noon and I can already say that I won't have time for any training today -> keeping busy at work. Tomorrow this one guy from The Netherlands comes to say that is mine and two co-worker's month's work in vain. I've got club board's meeting at six o'clock but I might have to cycle back to work to continue the preparations.

It took over 30h of work but finally got the t-shirt drawing done. It can be seen here. You'll need to require a password from me though.
