It was close that I would've taken a first rest day in a month. Just not in the mood. But then I thought of Salla's birthday cake yesterday and today and had to do something to get rid of that second (cough, fifth) piece of cake. And it wasn't a piece of cake (I'm hilarious today, eh?). Maybe I should really think of a rest day. Everything I do feels exhausting. After half an hour my body starts to function at some level but it's still not a walk in the park. Have to figure out something before next weekend. Two competitions ahead.

Intermediate distance competition at Billnäs.
It was still pretty snowy. In some points I gain a little advantage of my late starting time. Not so much that it would've been easier to run but mainly just cause the "path" led to right direction.
My legs were quite tired. I don't fully understand why cause last two days haven't been that intense. Although I think I could speed the pace up a bit towards the end. Few small mistakes and one a bit bigger one. On #13 I ran to wrong control, punched and continued to #14. After reading the map I realised that something doesn't match. Looked behind and I saw the right control 100m away.
Zeizei was the surprise of the day. A little one but still a surprise. Plan was to be 2nd fastest from LS but I was 3rd. Jusbet and Wilho behind. I guess this meant that I'm in Kevätyönviesti 1st team.

The regulation about the dotted fields was a bit confusing. At organisers web site there is a note that "...pasture fields are allowed...". But isn't it almost always so!?! I guess a lot of people understood that dotted fields are allowed also. Atleast I know few top10 men and women that went past the dotted field and aren't DQed.

BTW, it's pretty surreal to see M.Kauppi starring at prime time saturday evening TV-show that 10% of Finnish people watch.

Note

It came close that I wouldn't participate to tomorrow's competition, or any other for a while. I tested Volvo's passive safety features, again. At Kemppi-junction Taxi Volvo stopped at Stop-sign but continued right after. I thought he stopped for waiting me to get over the crossing. Foolish me... Probably 30km/h of speed before quick braking and BANG. Not too much of physical damage, only couple of small bruises and wounds but my front wheel took an oval shape. And that I noticed after the Taxi left and the only contact information I got from him was the license plate (my mind was a bit blur after the crash..). Now I'll have to do some PI-work and hunt that Death Cab (for Cutie) down.

I almost managed to take it real slow as I was supposed to. Only at the end I took part in offence play which was a bit more intense.

Quite big news at LS-37 site. Lahti-Suunnistus in July will have a prologue in Kyrgyzstan.

April 1st relay in Kärkölä kk. 1st leg me, 2nd Jusbet, 3rd Terkelsen and same again.
When I woke up this morning, first thing in my mind was "so no record times in Aprilliviesti...". Ýesterday seemed to be way too intense.
First lap was probably slower than my warm down one. I didn't get out of breath at all.
Same goes with second lap's first 700m. Then something happened. I had ran same pace with my surname namesake til this point but then I flew past him. Rest of the lap I was wishing that it wouldn't end. Unfortunately it did. I was close to go run 3rd lap on my own cause I had a strong feeling that it would've been the fastest.

From this picture you can see that I tried to fight Antti Ö with his own weapon. Didn't work...
Results. It seems that I won AÖ on the second lap with one second. If only we would've ran side by side...

Four a side at Energiahalli with co-workers. First half an hour tempo was like in a real game but then lack of subs started to have an effect, mostly on the other guys of course.

Playing floorball at Energiahalli has almost everytime made my calfs go concrete. So I decided to go for a 10km run just to prepare for tomorrow.

Last autumn I measured 1000m at Vesala straight (old Tampere road) and on that 10km run I thought to test my speed a bit. First I was supposed to run only once but the time was so lousy that had to run it also on the way back.

Yesterday's Californication+Weeds, "yellow tagged" Fazer marjapiirakka and first real stretching since Salppuri sport gymnasium muscle maintenance classes. Body and mind was in Zen-mode afterwards.

Didn't feel comfortable on second place at LS-37-group training times but didn't have time for 2+h training. Again I decided to cycle a bit faster so it could be counted as a training. I had bit of a tail on my side and 50% of the way the rotary broom tractor had paid a visit. For a looong long time it was enjoyable to ride a bike.

Because Assu in Levi, Jape in Denmark and so on there was no monday run from SC. I thought that skiing tracks could be in good shape and I was right. Only problem was that my "ski-o route" (small paths) to the closest groomed track is melting away. Soon I'll have to walk more than 50m to get to ski and that may be too much.
