Note
(injured) (rest day)

I might try some walking today.
Got finally a covering letter to a physio (or OMT), though our beloved company doesn't cover it at all. Got also some mild opioids, woohoo.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Some time ago I sent my offer to FC sprint and Jukola organisers that if they want, I could come and photograph for them. Jukola head of media committee guy said "I'll forward the info forward..." and apparently there's already a one guy in sprint. So no go. Can't see what a second photographer would hurt..?

Back didn't like yesterday's session. Pills for breakfast.

Edit. RasVa competition seems very improbable.

Floorball 2:00:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel-Beyond Mt

At Energia Halli. Not sure will I recover from this till sunday. I've never felt so tired after floorball.

Edit. Forgot to mention that in the second changeover I got probably the worst arrhythmia I've ever had. It lasted maybe 30-45s.

Thought it wouldn't be monday's basic long training but it was... Sulttaani said it the best in the forest (twice): Äijähän on ihan kuutsilla. 3rd team, here I come.

Football season opening. Either the pitch was in bumpy state or my skills were rusty but I couldn't get a single pass to my feet properly.

Running warm up/down 45:00 [1] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra stud

Pram jog to start place, some excersises with Saara and back to Tapanila.

Running race 21:00 [5] 3.6 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra stud

3.1 laps in LS-37 XC-test run.
Running felt awful right from the beginning. On the first lap there was couple of new obstacles that weren't there last time I ran. First lap time was a disappointment, second a bit better, third again bad but then I had a feeling running started to feel good and I had something in reserve. I opened up the pace and in the first downhill twisted my left ankle a bit. I thought I could continue, but after swamp in the ditch crossing, I realised I'd better do a 180-degrees.
The ankle isn't swollen but still hurts a bit to walk after few hours of rest.

Running long 2:00:00 [1] 21.0 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer XIII

Monday run with Assu. Tiilikangas - Pullapojat - Yläokeroinen - Tikkakallio - Hakosilta - Latomäki - Tiilikangas. I was the course setter this time. Though I hadn't really done much recon for it. Or atleast not enough..
I had a gut feeling there would be a road / path next to west bound railway and Assu said also that he had maybe seen something going along the traing on the south side. Well... right after Tikkakallio, the path vanished, right like the map says it does. So we continued on the rails and had to hide in the bushes for few trains to pass us. For future reference, the pathless bit isn't as long as it is in the map, only maybe a kilometer. Then after we got to Hakosilta, we thought we'd be off hiding but a dog from Simola thought different. He or she tagged along from the yard and stayed there for 2.5km. We were getting worried that the Riihimäki road (with 100km/h limit) was closing and he or she just follows. On the third last house we saw our moment coming. The dog went to the yard, I whispered to Assu we should jump behind a spruce fence, right after this the dog ran fast down the road and stopped at the next house. After a while we sneaked out to the road and ran away.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

To Varrassuo and back a bit longer route.

Running (swamp) 43:13 [4] 6.61 km (6:32 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra stud

Three times 'round Varrassuo.
I was surprised it was this dry. Normally the NE corner is very wet but now it was almost runnable. Had a couple of half-a-thigh deep stuck-for-a-while moments though, mostly in ditch crossings.

Running 50:00 [2] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer XIII

When I left workplace, my front tire was flat. Walked home (1h40min) with sore feet (couldn't really sing this song) and still got my ass to go 'round the Great Brick Lake. I'm almost proud of myself.

Note
(rest day)

First t-shirt - cycling to work -day this year. Was a bit chilly though.

I have some sort of motivational boost for training at the moment (first reason was my speed in 10mila, second and the more meaningful was the defeat to Lotta) but this morning I realised, it's time for one rest day.

6 PM

Running long 1:35:00 [1] 16.5 km (5:45 / km)

Monday run with Assu, Hämis and jusbet. Home - Bullis - Tiirismaa - Varrassuo - Lil' Bricklake - Home. Hamstrings were really sore in the beginning but when we got to paths, everything was fine.

Orienteering 30:00 [4] *** 4.4 km (6:49 / km)
spiked:17/20c shoes: VJ Supra stud

The training was marketed us as an "attacking the control" training but it really wasn't. The visibility in the terrain and the fact that the flags were placed on the side of the cp where we approached it made it far too easy. Still a nice training. Even I got out a sub 7min pace.

Orienteering race 19:03 [5] * 3.2 km (5:57 / km)
spiked:19/20c shoes: VJ Supra stud

First the qualification round (that we didn't know of) and then the same route so that the slowest started first and fastest last, 10s interval.
I'm slow... I barely won 2 x Kirvesmies sisters in the fisrt run so I left right after them. I catched Tytti in the last uphill and Lotta on the finish line. I got past her with 10cm but she picked better side to punch. I knew this day would happen sooner or later...

Mika Kantola Circuit training with o-tech twist.
First to map with a route, then running to 30s circuit training station, to a map that had a mirror route (that we didn't know of, first) on a white paper. We had to draw everything we thought we'd need to pass that route. K-18 orienteering came in handy. I directly knew to watch the map from the other side of the paper.

District champ sprint, Villähde.
Didn't have much faith on my running so didn't have any goals for this. Just a good full speed training.
First leg was very short and I went to the wrong cp. Small mistake to #2. Then pretty good to #9. To #10 and #11 I made relatively big route plan mistakes on a legs that had the only route plans in the whole race.
I had my studded shoes with me but then read from the organisers site that trainers would be the best choise. Drove back home and took 'em with me. I shouldn't have...

Can't put my gpx to 10mila runoway cause I don't have any splits in the system (cause of the below mentioned SI-card mess). Why would a gps curve need splits..?

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

Warm up.

Orienteering race 1:33:46 [4] *** 12.3 km (7:37 / km)
spiked:14/20c shoes: VJ Supra stud

10mila 2011, Riksten - Botkyrka, 8th leg.

The starting position was almost perfect for relay orinteering. Our biggest rival in this competition (Mäntsälän Urheilijat) was about a minute in front of me. I may have gotten a bit too carried away in catching Tomi right away and after seeing him first time, I made a big mistake to the #1 (2-2½min mistake). Got a hold of myself and continued flawlesly. On the 1km marked path to #4 I realised Tomi was getting away since my feet didn't work at all. Especially in uphills. Navigation was good even in more difficult places but the route was too "easy" for my current running fitness. In the middle part I didn't see anyone for a while and when I finally saw some people, they were 10th leg guys running a bit faster than me.
Right at the end I got a bit tired and that led to stupid mistakes on easy controls.

When I got to the punching checking, the guy behind the laptop told me I had zero punches on my SI-card. I could've panicked but almost all of our guys in the team had this issue. I went to the back office, they traced down my gaffling, found a map and checked the punches from the thermal printer strip. Everything OK. The reason seemed to be that our pretty new SI-cards are not compatible with some online-controls... After the whole race, we were disqualified 9 times on 8 legs. Only in the SI-world...

Unfortunately our 4th leg guy lost his contact lens right at the beginning of his journey so yet again our top100 hunting has to wait for Jukola.

Running warm up/down 4:00 [5] 1.1 km (3:38 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra stud

Not really an ideal warm down...
When I got to RaVa tent, JV told me clock was 9:24, next bus to the accomodation school would leave in 6min from the other end of the runway. Packed my backbag and ran like hell. Seemed like I didn't give everything to the forest after all.
