We were driving to another training but on the way there we saw this terrain and it looked worth visiting (to all the others in car except Voimis). If there would've been a little more of those cliff and boulder shapes, it would've been a perfect terrain. Now it was just good.

WNOC 2016

It was so open terrain that the starting position really mattered. Should've been 5 min interval.

No real mistakes except the long leg. There I made a mistake and also the control point was in the wrong place. Only Voimis found it eventually. Also 2nd and 2nd last control seemed to be in the wrong place. Those no one realised while orienteering.

O-country #31, Iceland.

Had walked a lot in NYC, slept around 6-7h within 48h and traveled quite a bit. So I didn't have so called "light feet". Anyways very nice to finally see Iceland and how its terrains look like.

Finally got the Blue Mtn checked from the bucket list.

Lots of fallen trees which made it hard to go straight. But also loads of fun and tricky parts.

First few controls on a different map. Thus the route through the control description. There was big constructions at the yellow line. They were building new gas line.

Ndobbs told us that he had once seen a snake in these woods and he lived 1 year next to it. We needed only one visit.

Just drank a Canadian beer to celebrate the 30th o-country.

Terrain itself wasn't much to celebrate. Time goal for the car to pick us up was exceeded by 15min and for this me and Koikka needed to skip 3 controls of my "45min course".

Would've been surprisingly good performance if a branch wouldn't have scratched my right eye. For 20-30 min I saw only blur and my eye was watering quite a bit. Actually still day after the incident it's watering. Because of the 50% blindness I made quite the mistake at #10. Just trying to find someone to guide me home.

Have to work out why the android app tracking didn't work. Last week it worked half the way. Today only some seconds. This time I used 2G network. Last week LTE/3G/2G.

It was a early morning so we left our cottage maybe a little too late (to get the precious sleeping minutes). Also I didn't know that there was still quite the way from pre-start to the actual start so I was ½min late from my start. And rather exhausted.

Better navigating and little bit better physical day today. Still took the downhills very carfully but managed to run most of the way. Some hesitation and 15s mistakes especially at the difficult last controls.

FC long distance

Last weekend showed that me and my ankle aren't ready for long distance but I went anyway. Was expecting so much from the praised terrain. Took it easy with the ankle.

Not too many navigational problems except doing some zigzagging with Ruhis on the way to #2.
