Yet another Tero Föhr proposal from Heinola. This time better than the previous. 6-10 were awesome.

Can't remember when I would've eaten blueberries in June. And they were good. But not as good as wild strawberries at #2. Size of a small normal strawberry and utterly delicious. Hard to get moving from that hill.

Ankle isn't even close to be OK when not taped. Couldn't run almost at all.

Jukola 2016

What a mess it was...

Took photos for 2017-2018 Jukolas straight on without a minute of sleep or even proper rest. Many people said to me that I'll be in the re-start so I didn't even bother to check how we were doing. Then while buying tape for my ankle, got a phone call that I should be already in the forest. Quick ankle taping and change of clothes and off I went.

Navigation and ankle were good until after #9 I twisted it on the swamp quite bad. Had to walk half a leg and even after that few legs I could only run in good terrain. After that my ankle was OKish. Like was navigation. Even got some praises in our 8-10 man train how I handled 15-19 in the front.
But all in all I'm embarrased about being late at the change over. I think this was the first time that I've been late more than 5s. Next year I'm photographing again but maybe that time I'm really doing the 1st leg like I was supposed to do this year as well.

Lunsen. Orienteering heaven.

Reminded me somewhat of Pääsinniemi but without the hills. So challenging technically that I was mentally exhausted afterwards.

Had to show PVA how that 5-6 leg can be done ;) PVA 2016-05-17

2nd training of the day, this time near Södertälje.

Managed to find one control and few hundred meters after that the same ankle as Saturday suffered another strain. This time I even heard some kind of cracking sound from it while twisting.

Ankle didn't swell that much and walking could be done normally even right after the incident. But uneven surface felt really bad.

Friday morning did a test taping and it helped a lot so I stick to the 1st leg plan.

The terrain seemed very nice so gonna return there at some point.

Ankle didn't hurt but had to be careful with it. One big mistake, otherwise quite good. Another mistake was not to find the drinking station. It was somewhat hot weather and oner 1½h without drinking had its affect on the last third of the course.

Quite happy with the performance. Twisted my left ankle a little midway 8-9. After little rest I was able to continue.
