The bus to the airport was leaving at 8.05 so had to get up extra early to squeeze in a run before breakfast and checking out. Decided to do a lap of the Imperial Palace. A surprisingly large number of runners out, some of whom were moving very quickly. There was also a large number of cyclists doing what appeared to be laps of the Palace. A few peletons of suitably professionally clad cyclists on expensive bikes whizzed by on the road and it would be a great loop for it with a nice hill and only a few traffic lights. I fell afoul of the law towards the end of the run when I crossed a major intersection against the red pedestrian light. The trouble arose as it was right next to the Diet building and there were about 15 policemen watching me do it. I was about half way across when a chorus of whistles rang out with lots of gesticulations, despite the roads being entirely empty of cars. I played the dumb tourist and apologized, and they allowed me on my way with a bit of finger-wagging.
