Started in the direction of BHS but it was cold even if sunny. Decided to walk on Laurel which was pretty much protected and new from the point of view of walking. Then decided to take a look at Crockett - went to the end of it. Learned where Eric T lives given the presence of 3 canoes in his front yard. And when I was about 150 yards from finishing, Eric drove by. We talked for close to 20'

Afternoon ride to Dunbarton - 13, 77, Clough SP area, back on Robert Rogers, Montalona.

Nottingcook. Day started bright and blue. By the time I went to the forest, it was mostly gray, windy, chilly. Wanted the forest vs the road & felt the need to include Willow. The road there is bumpy enough to make the 'town' walker a slo and short go but the bike was a bigger project than I was interested in. Turned around at the bottom of a short, steepish hill with a lot of loose stones. Nice to be outside. Yesterday was hard rain.

PM ride with Beth, ended going thru parts of Pembroke on 3 after Starbucks on Ft. Eddy. Caffeinated coffee buzz after a while - given that decaf is our norm. Brightens up a gray sky. Quite a few large views and fields from 3 looking west.

New route - felt refreshing: Allen, BBR to Dean to beginning of Erin. Quiet enough except for BBR but traffic less considering corona and time of day. Nice chat with Anna as I was negotiating the garbage containers. The girls across the street have taken over the task for us. But who doesn't benefit from challenges - walker in one hand, wheeled contained in the other, slightly downhill, rough surface.

Ride with Beth to East Concord, Oak Hill Rd. & Drive, Hardy Rd, over to Old Loudon and back. Stopped by Turtletown Pond, spotted the Fry's old place going back 25 yrs. when we first came to Concord. We always find something of interest, most often unexpected.

End of Arnold. Fine spring day. Stopped to talk twice & did not stop watch and forgot altogether when I finished. Climbing the hill on Arnold was tiring today.

Had Willow out earlier. I went to another section of yard. Soon I heard her barking - thought wanting to get in the front door but eventually could see her by the stream. I thought she thought I might have gone to the road. But no, the ducks that have been around for a few days were in the stream in front. She was most anxious to make their acquaintance, again...to the extent that she managed to get around the gate and was back and forth on one side of the stream or another. We (Beth arrived) finally reined her in. As we were standing on the bridge, the ducks walked right by us, not 10' away, heading for their preferred section of the stream. Beth later learned they belong to the house next door. So the problem most likely won't go away.

Nottingcook loop. About time I got off the beaten path of Stoneybrook. Hadn't come up with a simple enough way to get the bike-walker in back of car. Removed front wheel which made it easy enough except for the tire removal w/o quick release and a few other considerations. Figured I could get it back in the back leaving the front wheel on in returning - with the wagon top pressing on a rear wheel. Still some weight and bulkiness but It worked w/o help so now more available options for walking afield. Calm, sunny, warm.

Drive at 4:30, parts of Pembroke, Allenstown, Suncook.

Note

Drive with Beth to Warner exit. Ended up on Cunningham Pond Rd when Henniker Rd., what I was counting on, had a sign to the effect that it was closed 12/10 to April 15. It was dirt, narrow and climbed steeply from the intersection. Not what I'd expected. I thought it was an easy enough route to Henniker. We had no business attempting it.

So we drove almost to the end of Cunningham Pond Road to a handsome, maybe 5 ac pond with one equally appealing house on its shore. There were only a few houses on the est. 2 mile road - impressively isolated in feeling yet not more than 20' driving to Warner town center. One driveway climbed and curved high into the forest, house unseen. Every now and then we see an impressive statement in home locale -- which was life as best we could witness on CPR today (interesting initials - likely tough to access in winter).

After Warner town, a drive on Main St., another quintessential NH assembly of homes and buildings.

Did not feel like walking. Raked some and eventually sat in a chair enjoying the fresh stillness of the evening and watching Willow get more & more muddy with her backyard games.
