Note

Went to Great Hill for full moon rise for the last of the planned visits, which began in October. Calm and although there was a cloud bank to the east, the moon rose big, round and salmon around 7:30. Went with Beth & Bonnie C (ED RN friend from the early 80s, her first visit to Nottingcook). Michelle and her friend Kate came up as we were standing at the summit cairn. The four of us had a merry, chatty time celebrating the end of month moonrise and returning to our cars.

Moons were a mellow October night, a windy cold November, Dec 3rd (after UNO meeting) quiet and cloudy, Jan 1 & 31st (the 1st particularly cold) and March 1 & 31st, tonight the best of the lot. Also attended the Dec 31st sunset from the first Great Hill view.

Walking 33:58 [3] 2.09 mi (16:15 / mi) +1m 16:14 / mi

BHS track. Just Tuesday, the track was 40% snow covered and skiable.
8 lap (3.2k) routine, 100w, 100jog for a mile then 200w/200j for same. 50F, clear, W'ly breeze. A fine final day to March. Noticeable decline as I was unable to run 200m (longest was 140m, @7:50-8' pace) due to R leg weakness which was not an issue last fall and prior. Needing surgery I've known but now objective numbers/comparison.

Cardio 15:00 [2]

Weightexercise workout 25:00 [1]

At Y.

Note

Table tennis with Udo at NHTI. Excercise of sorts, good, hand-eye coordination training. Had been at least 2 yrs since we met for such. Calls back to the Rye Y days of the early 60s.

Thought how it was TT today. The first few times visiting NHTI was for 5k XC races around 7' pace 5+ yrs ago.

Note

Visit to vascular surgeon today to discuss focal common femoral endarterectomy. Will schedule for latter April &, hopefully, pick up speed.

Note

Quite like this photo taken of an MC Escher print, Puddle, at MFA yesterday. Mud and foot, vehicle & bike tracks, stuff of early spring. Viewed upside down, it has a surprise.
12 PM

Walking 40:27 [2] 2.03 mi (19:56 / mi) +65m 18:08 / mi

On Iron Works, across from Cilley.

Walking 20:00 [1]

To end of Arnold.

Went to Boston for 9a MEEI appointment & MFA after. What a fine day. Really wanted something exercise-wise there but had to get back to pick up the dog. Two hour drive each way today. Seems the eyes issue may not be inflammatory at all. That's what today's imaging indicated. Can taper & dc prednisone w/ 6 wk f/u.

Skate skiing 35:00 [2]

@ BHS around 10a. Went to BHS infield. Was there on way to work yesterday. It looked great & was supportive but no time. Quite a bit of change by this morning, thinned out and retreated on sun edge, but still good glide. Moderate surface change between over grass, track, and sand and in and out of shade.

Weightexercise workout 40:00 [1]

After BHS, slacking, eat too much ice cream and on prednisone for a month now doesn't help, either.

Note

Early spring walk with M. Met Don & Raider (black lab mutt). We seldom see anyone.

Walking 34:00 [1]

Manchester walk after the reptile show at the Expo center. Threw in the end of a house & barn expo also in the same structure. Interesting enough city. Always manage to pass it by. Splendid early spring day eventually.
10 AM

Classic skiing 59:15 [2] 1.72 mi (34:27 / mi) +114m 28:34 / mi

@ BHS around 10:30 but surface too soft, even in most shaded areas on most shaded field. Never got cold enough last night to last thru half morning. It was a freshly white world this morning though. Classic skied on skate skis on BHS XC trails and one SM trail and in the open woods, over logs, around root stocks etc. Being out was what it was about. One nice rock-filled, singing stream running down thru the snowy woods. More deer tracks than anything else. Route includes driving car to back of campus. Should have gone to Bear Brook.
