Walking 50:52 [1] 2.48 mi (20:31 / mi) +1m 20:29 / mi

South End walk @ end of day, mostly spent inside, sitting for nearly 9hr. with about 50' outside at lunch. Met Beth outside BPL at 5pm. We walked Newbury St., looked for a place to eat but it was already hopping with young city swingers (20s, 30s, 40s) so we went to an Au Bon Pan saving an anniversary dinner for maybe as soon as tomorrow, the 30th. I haven't seen so many young people out anywhere. Perfect wx for it recently (actually 3 90 deg days in a row, one a record). Usually come here when it's either chilly or just plain cold.

Sat next to a guy launching a drone to a few hundred feet above Copley Sq., admitting it was illegal. Asked him if he could get it as high as the top of the John Hancock bldg - he thot so but wasn't willing to find out.

Best part of past 2 days is early morning walk to CME while delightfully cool & breezy.

Note

Boston CME days. And a hot one, too, today (94F). Inside from about 0710 to 1710 except for 50' at lunch but that was partly spent at BPL. AC is nice but outside on the streets is pretty absorbing with sounds and sights. Staying in the South End at an Air B&B on Tremont St, so city noises to mostly ignore. Many interesting lanes, small tree-canopied streets, brick buildings/facades, green space parks and cubby holes. We wondered why the SW Corridor Park had no visible benches. We sat on a wall outside a dog park then subsequently noticed a bench in pleasant shade. Went to it, puzzled by three bolted crosspieces of wood, demarcating 4 sitting spaces. But then a bulb went on. It was otherwise a most pleasant place to sleep the night's ETOH off etc. High rent "benching it" made mostly impossible. South End is unfamiliar to both of us.

Did have an insightful & humorous talk on exercise rx. It is true one can create decent exercise sessions virtually anywhere and almost any time - a will, a way kind-of-thing. So it appears it's will power I'm in search of.

Walking 1:38:44 intensity: (1:23:44 @2) + (15:00 @3) 4.61 mi (21:25 / mi) +36m 20:55 / mi

Burlington walk, south along North St. to 127 access, then along 127 until I could get thru the fence to the bike path which led me back to Ethan Allen museum/home - had never visited after 35+ yrs to the area but it is in the relatively secluded Intervale area. After, I thought I could cross 127 on the prominent wooden arch bridge. Encountered an uncrossable fence on the other end. So walked along the dry edge of a beaver swamp, crossed a barbed wire but smashed fence, then 127 and then dealt with abundant skunk cabbage, budding tall ferns and a wet-leafed, steep hillside. The path on the other side of this prominent arch bridge to Ethan Allen Park was long gone. And not a sign indicating so. Turns out there is a crossing about a mile down 127. I climbed a very steep hillside, grabbing trees etc. As I got near the top, dogs barked. I was not entering the peace & quiet of EA park but, instead, a multitude of neighborhood backyards. I picked the most direct way to the road that I perceived, passed between 2 houses not 15' apart but never heard or saw anyone who might have been somewhat incredulous to see this old guy "lost" from the outback.

Strava stopped briefly probably because I didn't put the phone to sleep - presumed pressure against it and the rest is 'technofusion'.
