Weightexercise workout 35:00 [1]

Quiet inside given that most every one was shopping.

Walking 30:00 [1] 0.9 mi (33:21 / mi)

To Stoneybrook Bog with Mocha. Our return took us across the snow-covered bog which proved very slippery, calling for red alert. M slipped/fell twice. Time for microspikes.

Mocha's Merry Christmas!

Skate skiing 20:00 [1] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

SloGo at White Farm at dusk. Day started cloudy - by mid-PM, it was powder blue and, at dusk, around freezing which created a marvelous mist. Spent a few hours with Beth on Concord Main St. then drove to WF to sample conditions which were good & then back to the shopping plaza. Then to Crazy Goat, a newish N. Main St. pub for a beer.

Walking 38:46 [1] 1.69 mi (23:00 / mi) +46m 21:12 / mi

SPS walk around 2:30 - had been inside all day. Temp went from around 10F to 40 by then. Walked about the longest SPS perimeter w/o any retracing and w/o crossing any snow. Strava provided the gpx, so now it seems I do have a second gps "watch".

Walking 25:00 [1] 1.0 mi (25:00 / mi)

Brush dump/PL walk with Mocha. The road was just about complete ice but with snow patches and ruts. Almost turned the car around but knew I'd done similar in the past and the morning PL sun was what I wanted. Mocha, when she slips and slides on ice, freezes in place. At worst, no amount of doggy treats can entreat her to do my bidding.

Last two movies at Red River: Nocturnal Animals and, tonight, Manchester by the Sea - both very good and both quite depressing. Also have been watching Ken Burns' excellent 1990 PBS documentary, The Civil War. Wikipedia notes more total deaths than any other US war.

Skate skiing 25:00 [1] 1.5 mi (16:40 / mi)

At White Farm around dusk. Quite the contrast to two days ago - now clear, calm, western gold, blue to black sky; car thermometer said 15F, felt like a normal and tolerable winter cold - perhaps work hardening. Two day old groom, crusty, good for DP as well as skate. More animal prints on the groomed track than usual, dogs and maybe deer - could not distinguish in the fading light. Off the groomed surfaced, the corn field crust was almost supportive. Encountered one skier.

Venus is the evening star, Beth suggests 'the star of Bethlehem' (from an atheist household). A nice visit.

Weightexercise workout 35:00 [1]

Weights. Sunday offers free parking and a generally quiet ambiance. A grey, warm day, low 40s. First order of morning business will be to sand the walk with the resumption of sub 20 temps. White Farm may be good tomorrow after grooming.
