Orienteering 1:44:27 [2] 3.77 mi (27:42 / mi) +139m 24:52 / mi

At Harris Center, started around noon and a hot day, high 80s. Did the green course from the recent UNO meet. Had considered my route choice before starting. Had a tad of "trepidation" being a hot day, figuring cramps or more but none came. Didn't notice bugs either. Some right thigh lameness that backed off with change in effort. Went straight to most of them. A bit of trouble with #1 and early on on #11. On the latter, relocated at a triple path jct which was a gift. Just can't stop concentrating.

Really don't know where the 305 split fxn went - have the splits but they don't show up - need to fuss around some. Posted to see where my effort placed me, third after PB. Saw & spoke with a lady (watering the very dry plants at Harris Center) I'd also chatted with in March (13th per log).

Started the day by driving to DHMC admin. After, went across 120 to DHMC itself for coffee & croissant. It is an impressive medical institution and medical mall in the forest. Had not been there since possibly 2005 when UNO had a local meet at Burnt Mt. Then passed thru Grantham, Croydon, Newport (stopped to see NHC), Pillsbury St. Park, Washington, took Mountain Rd. to Lempster, then thru Marlow and Stoddard and finally across 202 to Harris. A very rural NH perusal. Quiet, pretty towns offering plenty of vistas and repose for contemplation. Took a dip in Lake Nubanusit after the O.

BHS track 6 pm - was a hot day but just ending with a nice W'ly breeze. Legs felt good - mostly walk 100, run 100 or 200. Right thigh on verge of lameness with the 200s, recovering during the walking.

Beth dropped me off at S. Bow kiosk & I made my way back - still reasonably early. No shortage of deer flies and rocky/rooty trails. Surprised by logging on Great Hill. Wild and wildly green woods for the most part.

At Merrymeeting - up & down from water to road as I needed to stick around the car to drive to cell coverage in event of unlikely page. Dylan & Juliette found this amusing enough that they joined for some of the laps.

Walking 47:34 [1] 1.85 mi (25:43 / mi) +15m 25:05 / mi

In Hanover - had to go to DHMC for paperwork, then went to Hanover green to read the Monitor. Needed to try out the leg after yesterday in form of a walk & Hanover/Dartmouth environs proved perfect. Odd re yesterday - no repercussions so not a pull so much as a spasm or similar. Wasn't like I had a stiff leg this morning - nothing, so gradual inc in effort.

Reflected on how unpleasant it is to drive in the metro Boston area other than at the most peripheral of times. It's too much of an onslaught with road rage riding shotgun.
