Walking 1:42:10 [1] 2.41 mi (42:23 / mi) +87m 38:07 / mi

Back to OJR in fairly steady rain. Walked nearly all the way to the PL, no luck.
Was able to walk within sight of yesterday's track. A manmade, black object on a brown background didn't seem to too challenging but nothing was sighted. Did not find that blaze corner either. Returning was a bit disorienting in a few places where blazes were sparse - hang on to that compass/SOD for good measure.... Did have an epiphany: that we should be carrying a can of yellow spray paint, renewing pre-existing blazes as we go.

Rogaine training as has been called. Somewhat cold & fairly wet by end. Done with the great outdoors for the day.

Track 17:50 [3] 2.0 mi (8:55 / mi)

BHS track just at dark & the still same warm day. Ran 2 mi no stopping - good for the breathing. 8 laps nonstop is not really something I do much of.
Time's a guess.

Walking 1:00:00 [1] 2.09 mi (28:42 / mi) +34m 27:19 / mi

OJR CE walk with Ken. Really warm day, got to 60F by the time we were done. Found nothing new in way of infractions, lost the blazed boundary & could not find it after some searching - maybe done carelessly or not at all in that spot. Had not been paying much attention to distance covered since the blazes in general kept coming up. We sure searched & then headed 135M to the PL where Ken was pretty sure he would see where the boundary met the PL but did not find that either - all very close to the condos, so perplexing. My third time visiting OJR. 2h22m out there, time to get home to do some staining. Back again tomorrow since my camera is unaccounted for.

Walking 1:00:00 [1] 2.0 mi (30:00 / mi)

Thanksgiving Day, walks logged in case I wonder a year from now how I spent the day. Pretty good am walk with M to the "T" jct on the Stoney Brook walk. Mild day coming.

Second walk was to the shooting area in Notingcook. Heard numerous shots, at first thinking some deer was getting filled with lead. But too many shots so then the real reason occurred: target shooing & illegal at that. This time i was going to get a photo! As I exited the drive, a Bow PD car was driving by. Considered flagging him & suggesting he follow me because it would be his responsibility...but I wanted to be positively sure. Got to WH parking & w/in 15" heard a barrage of shots but 20 deg or so to the right of where I thought they'd be coming. Turns out it was on the one private lot in north center part of Nottingcook. Seems that obnoxious loud, rapid shooting from the parcel is legal & to be endured.

Third was with Dylan & Juliette to the slough & home on the PL & roads. Rough going for a 4 y/o esp across the swampy area & thru generally thick woods. They had a blast, esp with the ice cover on the slough. J had to bring some home, ie, carry for 1/2 hr inside a hat. Weather-wise, a complete contrast to last year.

Road/trail 52:00 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (32:00 @2) 3.5 mi (14:51 / mi)

SPS campus quiet as can be the day before T-giving. Often the case as well when it's in session. Was on a part of the perimeter not often visited which was refreshing.

Didn't have a gps watch 'watching' me today & having it or not can be a complex consideration, for me anyway. Years ago, I was practically dumbfounded to learn that training c/would be a public post (having kept yrs of log entries on paper & before most AP users were born). The idea (and capability) of sharing across a previously unavailable modality as a motivational exercise was evolving. Now with HRMs and virtual this & that, indeed it can be a very effective tool.

From time to time though being "off stage" has appeal. PG, in another context, pointed out the obvious "people are different" (to chitown several years ago)...some thrive in limelight (ie, some like it hot), some like being in and out the light, some spend all their time in shadow and some read AP but prefer the dark. I'd call myself left of center. There's also "vacationing". I seem to be more of a "daily plugger" for the time being.
"Search location" for entirely non-competitve reasons is fun/useful for me.

Road/trail 40:59 intensity: (15:00 @1) + (25:59 @2) 3.1 mi (13:13 / mi) +2m 13:12 / mi

Boston Public Garden & Charles shore. We went to the Museum of Science (along with droves of school kids, at least in the morning). MOS (intellectual) or the Isabella Stuart Gardner Art Museum (emotional) was Beth's simplification of choice.

Out for a jog around 4p while Beth went to a local store to get a coat tended to. Lovely late pm in the city - clear, light west wind & bare branches against the setting sun.

Had expected to cross the Mass Ave bridge for a river loop but the path was (unnecessarily in my opinion) closed off for hard-topping. Glad we don’t have to deal with city/metro area traffic on a regular basis. But always special to visit Boston/Cambridge.

Road/trail 54:30 [2] 4.02 mi (13:33 / mi) +206m 11:42 / mi

Walker around 3p - chilly 34F at the time. Took Eagle Tr to Weblos to WH Road, looked at the scout kiosk and returned on roads. Duked it out with a boxer which isn't like me - thought it may have been a pit bull - & when I picked up a just-in-case-stick, it obviously shifted our encounter to deterioration mode. Initially couldn't decide where to go: Hammond, Page Rd, OJR but Walker felt right. Maybe an O map project there someday.

Seem to have a working relationship with the XT thru Garmin Express & Connect, export the gpx to downloads & pick it up there for AP.

Note

I can’t help but be impolitic. Terrorism under the radar and/or as the cost of doing business...

Road/trail 1:03:40 intensity: (25:00 @1) + (38:40 @2) 4.25 mi (14:59 / mi) +82m 14:08 / mi

SPS around Little Turkey Pond which was part adventure and unexpected at that. Parked at Stickney Hill and was reminded there is a path or SM trail "somewhere" on the west shore of TP and then saw one, little used. It faded in & out, finally out &, at one point, I had to cross what was private field near a house or go back (so I thought). Then I was restricted to Pleasant St. due to houses - finally back into SPS property, down to a bridge to get across the river and back on familiar trails/roads to start. Stopped briefly to speak with two elderly people walking their dogs, the man with a cane, the lady with a walker. Temp low 40s, grey and nice enough to be out & about. Best sighting today was about 25 turkeys on Allen Road, both sides & in no hurry. M & I made it to the slough this morning.
