Track 44:00 [1] 2.0 mi (22:00 / mi)

Two miles at BHS track at end of day - the last day of October. Worked around the house and garage & felt pretty much w/o energy by the time I struck out. Weekly mileage totals suggest too much "other": work/distraction or period of insufficient motivation or "age on stage" even.

Road/trail 59:41 [2] 3.81 mi (15:40 / mi) +114m 14:20 / mi

Nottingcook around noon - very warm, to 70F. Proceeded along the power line -- lots of stuff I do less of/places I visit less of these days and it feels refreshing to do some of it again.

Joe Harris, who dates back to the 1980 orienteering era, came for dinner and the night. Fun to visit, skyped Joan in NZ, drank too much wine. An added benefit of having guests is a clean, more organized house.

Orienteering 50:13 [3] 2.21 mi (22:43 / mi) +109m 19:42 / mi

Noted last night that Harris Center was so close to today's drive. Stopped there on way home to run Sunday's course from 2 weeks ago. Started around 4:30, no problems to speak of but it was a repeat so not too many expected. Stopped once on way to #5. Worked pretty hard, esp toward end when I wondered if I had a chance to break 50'. Noticed a bit more than last time - spotted a few really fabulous boulders that need revisiting, photographing, even worshipping..... A productive day in the PE sense.

Peterborough, Jaffrey, Hancock, Stoddard areas are just plain bloody beautiful, esp now. Frost on fields in low sun and ever so calm waters this morning were particularly nice

From S. Bow kiosk, got a one way ride from Beth. Marvelous time of day, was plesaantly warm & the subdued light allowed colors to shine on their own. Something to smile about after some hectic weekend moments, plumbing solutions, roof staining etc. Two movies, too: one til midnight Saturday night & this eve 6-8p in town.
