Track 40:00 [3] 2.5 mi (16:00 / mi)

BHS track: 5 400s and other stuff - same time, early eve, had the place to myself.

Track 42:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (15:00 @2) + (17:00 @4) 3.5 mi (12:00 / mi)

BHS track around 5:30, finally shady & pleasantly cool. 800 warmup, 2 times 8:38 miles and 51, 47.

Arrived simultaneously with two women. One had running shoes and water bottle in hand and departed in less than 20'. The other was there long enough for what I would call exercise. I'd seen her before and we acknowledged each other as she was leaving. How people on tracks so often look straight ahead.... Always interesting to see what people make of a visit to the track.

I could polish my car for quite a while with the t shirts left behind. Occasionally I take one home for that very reason.

Note

Two day visit to Martha's Vineyard. Had not been there in summer in many years. Pretty special place, I'd forgotten. Enjoyed Edgartown, and two free nights on mooring, the harbormaster never came by. Car rental took us to W. Tisbury, Aquinnah, Chilmark, Menemsha, Katama and Oak Bluffs. MV abounds in old money. We saw a lot American wealth this summer, mostly by virtue of being afloat: Rye (by car), parts of the CT shoreline, north shore of LI, Fisher's I, Newport, Woods Hole/Falmouth, and the Vineyard.

Road running 17:52 [1] 1.65 mi (10:50 / mi) +3m 10:46 / mi

Beth dropped me off - I jogged with wind off port quarter and sun off starboard quarter. Was hot by time I'd reached shade. Nantucket Sound in the reflecting morning sun was very pretty.

Road running 8:54 [1] 0.64 mi (13:54 / mi) +5m 13:35 / mi

AM car pickup.
10 AM

Walking 10:30 [1] 0.67 mi (15:41 / mi) +2m 15:32 / mi

Back from car rental - nice to have had the car for our visit. No consideration of a scooter or bikes.

Orienteering race 49:42 [3] 2.44 mi (20:22 / mi) +68m 18:45 / mi

Sunday, did brown once I regained some flexibility/motion capability. Had a good run, no mistakes, good map contact. I think #3 & #9 weren’t quite right. There seemed an extra, unmapped knoll on 3 and 9 was on a boulder in the triangle and not the NW boulder in the description. It deteriorated into a wet, quasi-miserable day.

Nice event, always “social overload” at these large events. Nice to catch up with a few including long unseen Pat Dunlavey. Beth came for dinner which was a very nice affair with the Childs' and Gary Gallagher. Pot lucks are treats.
