Blither...
Last offshore page for the two of us for numerous reasons. One, not far from top of the list, is fact that effective living space (on our boat) is around 120 sq feet, i.e., say 8' by 15' which has become tough to tolerate for any length of time with some mindsets, mine now included. We were 6d 20h going and 5d4 hr returning. In some respects, it is a form of suspended animation esp when the weather is a trial as it was to and through the Gulf Stream returning from Bermuda - a lot of wind and wave, confining and even anxiety-producing at times. My anxieties were things like major rigging failure, rudder or steering cable issues, hard-to-identify leak, falling overboard (should be entirely preventable), significant medical issue (namely something broken or dislocated), or fire. Any one of those could have been a "party spoiler" and the energy for dealing with any has certainly dissipated. Being enveloped by land in NY harbor was most welcoming. We celebrated it all by watching 4th of July fireworks anchored between the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Manhattan shoreline was incredible (a pix or two on the way). My computer decided it was time for a major failure so current solutions dropped down to catch as catch can.
