Walking 20:00 [1]

To slough - gem of a day: green, blue, white primary colors. Some yellow
waterlilies and lots of water spiders.

Walking 50:00 [1] 1.8 mi (27:47 / mi)

DP with Beth & Z&M to south end of Hornbein Swamp where stream exits. There was a canoe nearby but no water of note. Would guess beaver activity changes level but did not see much potential for canoe use (and it was far from anywhere). Lush evening!

Walking 20:00 [1] 0.7 mi (28:34 / mi)

To slough. Misty, gray but blue holes appearing. Even saw my shadow briefly. More T-storms this afternoon. Birdsong & crickets were notable. Recalls VPE's "use the talents you possess for the woods would be silent if no birds sang but the best" - harks back to college years.

Road/trail 35:00 [2] 2.0 mi (17:30 / mi)

To Memorial Field early pm - on the hot side, thunderhead-type wx.
Some exercise & 2 200s on track for the heck of it. There was a group of black kids understating their good running ability. One boy maybe 16-7 was moving right along for 800s - guessed 2:10 but 2:15 was the answer.
10' exercises.

Track 11:31 intensity: (7:57 @3) + (3:34 @4) 3.0 km (3:50 / km)

SPS track, cool, pleasant. 200/400/800/200/400/800 with from 100 to 300m in between. Felt honest enough, important to get some life out of legs.

55, 1:50, 3:38, 49, 1:45, 3:34. Not a 7'/mi pace.... Will keep at it. Pleased with the energy as it was as I listened to a radio podcast from around 0210 to 0510 while trying to fall to sleep.

Woods/trail 16:00 [2] 1.6 mi (10:00 / mi)

To track & back from Silk Farm.

Walking 17:00 [1] 0.7 mi (24:17 / mi)

DP, Kettle Hole loop.

Mouse Chronicles

Beth returned from the walk last night without the CI as it was raining too hard to stop. Some three hours later, having nothing better to do, we decided to go to the shed to see which mice were there, if any. With two flashlights and careful stepping over and around machinery and such, we lit the cage and could see at least one mouse inside. It was likely Tiki as he passed up a similar chance several months ago. We returned inside the house and could see that most (and definitely Tiki), if not all, the mice were still in the CI! Who would have thought: wild mice forsaking freedom for a secure, well-fed existence in a cage. We'll need a different strategy.

Walking 20:00 [1] 0.5 mi (39:59 / mi)

DP in the Amphitheater where forest backs off, more sky/brightness. A few blue patches. Read current TIME cover story "How to Die" with interest although I have passed that point w/ both parents dead. We're all potential administrators then recipients...a most interesting topic.
12 PM

Road running 47:00 [0] 4.46 mi (10:32 / mi) +170m 9:25 / mi

Hopkinton: Rollins & Page Road loop, CW. Some sun & blue, dry for sure, Some nice long views. Legs dead; three nights disturbed sleep most likely
responsible. Walked up the hills more than I'd expected. Lovely June day!
Watch off for 0.61mi - fudged. And as I type at 6:50p, raining again hard. Beth doing the DP as well as releasing all mice that want out.

shoes: Nike Lunarglide 3

Luti loop, CCW. Cool, pleasant enough. In need of energy though.

Walking 17:30 [1] 0.6 mi (29:09 / mi)

DP, drizzle that became rain, cold at that. Hard to believe a second "chill" fire last eve after Memorial Day's heat wave.

Last night, typed 'white noise' into 'search'. Of course, there was a world waiting to be discovered. Near top was a sound generator site named "SimplyNoise". Was not familiar with sound generator experience & options. Downloaded a free 60' Thunderstorm recording which I listened to/or fell asleep by for more than 3 hours without any sense of boring repetition (woke to realize a considerable amount of real rain had fallen). Moving water must be/is one of some number of sounds that one could listen to indefinitely. Imagine listening to that sound on some kid's mp3 in the desert during a severe drought.

Road running 41:00 [2] 4.0 mi (10:15 / mi)
shoes: Nike Lunarglide 3

More rain & E wind. West on Clinton & along Iron Works to South. Nice once I decided that fact...

Walking 18:00 [1] 0.7 mi (25:42 / mi)

At Walker SF w/ Z&M after dinner at UNOs with Diane & Liz. Updated trash abuse for mtg Tu. Discovered 11 rimless tires (spread over c. 300 yards & dropped right in center of the SVT), 1 TV in 2 parts and a medium-sized box w/ junk. Maybe a sign: "Trash disposal subject to $500 fine" & means of enforcing would be the best way to deal with this behavior. I like the idea of a stealth motion-detector camera. On the positive side, the rocky stream by the road was almost raging - very nice. Bad & ugly, good & lovely.

Note

Yesterday's QR more for 'fun/practice' than being pragmatic. I think I could have inked this about as accurate in 1/50th the time. Had splits to pinpoint circle centers & still tweaked more than felt "kosher." Probably doesn't show up well anyway - one screen often isn't another.

Road/trail 40:05 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (30:05 @2) 2.67 mi (15:01 / mi)

Nottingcook loop, gray, chilly but dry. Took a look at various trash dumps as step toward cleanup. Tired, tired - very little sleep. Have acquired tinitus for reasons unclear. Am working down the Ddx list. It is a constant hissing, 24/7, that can have a scary affect/effect if one thinks about what one is experiencing. Currently can't escape it but am applying earnest effort.
