Muggy, bit buggy, humid/warm, not unpleasant DP with Beth along to slough
which is very full. In '07 at time of Nottingcook meet, it contained only a narrow stream. Beavers have obviously returned. Not sure why their departure in the first place.

Middle of day at BBSP placing streamers for Sunday A meet courses. Ernst called last night, offered to help with the work so we split into thirds, did about 1/3rd each, leaving some for tomorrow. Can be difficult but good contours/map make for fair challenge. Struggled w/ up-downess on a few occasions, esp. with green limiting visibility. Need to add a fair # of root stocks. Saw very little in way of nature. In fact, only one large toad as well as one young deer. Nice to have the help.
No need to kiss a frog...or a toad...

BHS after work, hot in sun. Intended to run two loops around BMS & BHS. Spent time on paths around the HS, stumbled upon the new trail from back fields to track (two laps there) then one loop around BMS. Will try for 3-4mi every day. Feel lethargic, out of practice. Hamstring insertion isn't bothered much by this.
Finished ONCE A RUNNER by John Parker, a fun, fictional tale of a college miler - several pages devoted to dissecting the experience of each of the 4 laps of a mile race. Then The Race: the young runner hero against the world's current best (a Kiwi) which, of course, is won by the former in 3:52.5.
A cliff hanger:).
Plan was to run at noon...forgot running shoes. So drove home, "the force" took the ice cream out of the fridge (too late for noon run...in fact a nap looked really nice), finished most of the ice cream sitting up in bed, took a nap & back to work with running shoes in hand. Ice cream, Captain Crunch, Scotch dangers. Resolution: burn calories, avoid danger.

Nice jog along country roads to Merrymeeting Lake, pure summer eve. Ran to 21 N Shore, Peter and Mel's rental place. Could do worse than a week at a summer cabin on a peaceful blue lake...swim morn & eve, read/reflect, use the barbecue, pack & and leave with a store of good memories.
To slough, cool, gray. Passed by town employee w/o repercussion.

On Birch loop - down South, Iron Works - first actual run on a road in entirety since late May. Corn high, gardens full of veggies, sun flowers not yet really drooping.

Hurricane I walk ashore w/ Beth. canned the run/swim - too early to be
motivated for such as well as being gray. Discovered a trail over the top
to N end and back along east shore.
