Trail/woods running 36:51 [2] 3.8 mi (9:42 / mi)
shoes: Loco training

YK DP out back, 32F overcast, snow soft & better than last time on this loop.

Note

"By the rude bridge that arched the flood..."

Home via 117 thru Acton, Sudbury, Concord, Carlisle. Stopped at Old Road to Nine Acre corner where Beth did what she does so well, visits the DD that sprang up. As did the dogs, fertilizing the fields. On to Rollingwood where #110 was barely visible thru trees. Beth moved there back in '66. By now-monstrous Emerson hospital complex & into Concord town center. Rec'd an 1884 copy of "Walden" from Beth for XMas, one she bought in a Concord antique/book store. Then over to North Bridge where it was quite quiet as Monument Street bridge was closed. North on Lowell Road to Carlisle center with a quick look at GB XC center. BP, if you see this, t'was not the day. Did not feel like a run so early in the day though Estabrook caught my fancy. Onto to Bedford/Chelmsford & depart byways for highways, distancing from any emotion that might have welled. Home to rough-hewn NH.

Good Christmas Day run from Peter & Mel's in Stow. Mostly flat, around Delaney wildlife mgmt. area, some rolling stretches, 2 hills. Pleasant mix of
fields, woods & walls, with contemporary deck houses amongst the trees. Had a handwritten route with where to expect miles which helped with pace/interest - should have been a bit more detailed. More precision, perhaps more engagement, better effort.

Splendid, warm blue-dome, 100% contrast with yesterday. Little Pond/FIsk
loop, felt good. Was hot on top of Fisk. Could have run in t shirt for 1/3
of the run. Good energy. 53:02, 4' better than before but not exact about
start yet. Work in progress. Perfect winter running day.

Road running 47:50 [2] 4.4 mi (10:52 / mi)
shoes: Loco training

Biting NW wind, not strong, but turned out to be cold. Chatty run with
Diane. Ran down Broadway for a change & really only warmish part.

Skipped gym as dogs needed attention & was not about to go back toward town. Spent nearly 40' today am & pm in DP mode but not logable as I was walking & rather slowly at that.

Road running 30:00 [2] 2.9 mi (10:21 / mi)

SPS campus with last of light - attractive, virtually no traffic. Not enough to wear - detracts from "run satisfaction" - hate being cold at start as time has passed. Used to be the norm. Lunch with the med team at India Palace in Manchester - good buffet, way too much food, too good to pass up. So the idea of dinner is out to lunch, as it were. Weight maybe up 3-4 lbs.

...satisfaction...

Road running 34:54 intensity: (20:00 @3) + (14:54 @4) 4.0 mi (8:44 / mi)
shoes: NB 993

Noon, Diane didn't show, got out door late, chose shorter route. Feisty NW wind but not biting. Really humming thru the flags in front of bldg. South to Iron Works, back on Clinton - good effort for half of the distance. Felt sub-8 for what that's worth.

WInter solstice, heading off into darkness, sun rises in February.

George Winston's pensive, haunting "December" melody will have to do for now.

Weightexercise workout 30:00 [1]

Gym, second time. 30' tops for me. Cardio lady tired me out just listening.

Trail/woods running 1:11:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (41:00 @2) 4.0 mi (17:45 / mi)
shoes: Loco training

Nottingcook loop, good DP anyway, more than I bargained for. Beth dropped us off at start. No snow had fallen by daylight, still not an inch total. But early snowmobile tracks ended & it was 5-6" breakthru crust stuff until Woodhill-Hooksett which had tracks that helped me all way back to powerline. Quite a bit of ice on road near 2 streams, yk's essential for sanity. Then thru woods into back of house - more tiring snow & finally my snowshoe tracks packed solid from last Monday. Last day of hunting season in any manner, shape or form. Did not see anyone or anything...not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse, apparently. Or more than likely, joggers miss alot when they pass thru.

Route, mostly to tickle memory as well as ocad, find/update a few files etc...
