Note

Rest day. Will fend off mosquitos working in drive on boat. Morning's paper had coverage of local HS track meet (B&Gs) in Concord for area schools - knew of it but did not care to spend some 2 hrs late pm/early eve watching. 4 by 800 boys won in 8:03.58 - 4 half milers under 2:01, same school. Would have been some interesting action to see all round.

Road running 55:37 [2] 5.5 mi (10:07 / mi)
shoes: Loco training

Luti loop with Diane, nice to be out, cool, no rain. Freshly printed mile markers confirmed what I'd thought was 9:30 or so wasn't. She got me interested in Pack Monadnock 10mi race Sunday am.

Track 2:30 [3] 1.2 km (2:05 / km)
shoes: Loco training

Warm-up at BHS. Wanted 2 metric miles tho hard to muster energy Fri pms, esp having slept poorly. Yawning enroute.

Track 13:24 [4] 3.2 km (4:11 / km)
shoes: Loco training

2 metric miles: 6:45 ('40-41s) & 6:39 ('38-40s) - hopefully moving away fm 7' pace for a season, anyway.

Trail/woods running 35:00 [2] 3.4 mi (10:18 / mi)
shoes: Loco training

Second rainy day. Went out around 4:30 overdressed to improve upon yesterday. Rain had let up. All well enough until dogs found a fawn. I heard some strange crying, not sure what it was then this thin, small, terrified creature came running up the stream toward me, stopped under bridge I was standing on. Mocha was not to be deterred, Zoe gave me some atttn. Fawn ran off upstream, thought it may have been ok to let her go. She raced away after it. Caught up w/ it in the middle of a deepish pool in stream. I was hoarse yelling. I got them away, went back after the run, could not find an injured animal. Don't think they hurt it. Not so enjoyable a run after that. Should have gone in am but did a RT boat errand (day off) to Portsmouth in a car that was interested in stranding me.

Another wood stove pm; forget fm yr to yr, reminded even June can be cold.

A different kind of day...

Road running 58:36 [3] 6.9 mi (8:30 / mi) +130m 8:01 / mi
shoes: Loco training

Home fm work, steady rain most of day, 45F, reasonably miserable but written in the tarot for the day. Needed gloves, heavier top, running shorts could have been improved upon, yet almost June. Hot shower/warm clothes, start the wood stove.

New England weather changes so quickly, so often...

Orienteering 1:04:00 [2] 4.2 km (15:14 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Drove over to Bear Brook, needed to get away fm boat chores & living in too small an envt. 13.5 mi, 25' ea way. Haven't been there for running or O in several yrs, XC more recently. Took color xerox of basemap jpg #3. Excellent contours as expected, very boulder-free part of park with spurs/reentrants/depressions, not NE-like, maybe like some VA maps.

Last yr this weekend (Memorial) 2 days at Lehigh U, Bethlehem, PA dorm. Don't miss the highways....
