Trail/woods running 1:00:36 [3] 6.0 mi (10:06 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 992

On Martha's Vineyard - from Tisbury Meadow conservation trailhead. Temp nearly 60F, shorts for first time. Was going to run maybe 2 runs, first with dogs but one trail led to another, keeping interest level high & 60' passed reasonably easily. Mostly beech woods, fields at start/finish.

Classic skiing 21:00 [2] 1.4 mi (15:00 / mi)

Usual dog pacification - mid-30ies, soft snow, no grip but good glide; nice air sniffing.

Road running 36:07 [3] 4.0 mi (9:02 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 992

Lunchtime, got out late due to med stat, missed Diane. Short loop.

Skate skiing 21:00 [2] 1.6 mi (13:07 / mi)

After work DP, did not intend but 45F & pleasant, wanted to see what snow was like; bit too soft, skate 'path' too narrow, still nice end of day as well as bolster for TGIF mood.

Classic skiing 20:33 [2] 1.4 mi (14:41 / mi)

Bright, calm, cold. Fingers never completely happy, even with down mitts.

Road running 56:51 [3] 6.3 mi (9:01 / mi) +115m 8:32 / mi
shoes: New Balance 992

Nice, warm, solo noon run - Fisk, Long Pond, Auburn loop that needs name (Walker SF loop). Diane with Tilly. CW, climb ends at 4 mi. Pace not fast enough....

Classic skiing 17:00 [1] 1.0 mi (17:00 / mi)

Usual am; Beth came along walking. Snowmobile groomed. Very much winter at 13 deg but calm.

Alpine 45:00 [1]

PM skiing at Sunapee, 2 hrs, $20. Windy, fortunately had enough to wear. Should have waited a day. No falls. Met some nice folks on the chairlift: young man fm Warner moved to Brookline for a job search, older man fm 67th St, Manhattan w/ house on Sunapee, 2 women fm Maryland who knew of Patapsco, one fellow fm CT skiing 40 yrs who made some of the amazing tracks thru the trees visible fm lift. More crust (& some ice patches) than I would have expected considering recent snow.

Skate skiing 16:00 [2] 1.0 mi (16:00 / mi)

Drove up to entrance, not sure what I'd see - saw a groomed track, so drove bk, got skate skis, went out to powerline - but turned out not groomed - wind chill was nasty - was dog pacification anyway - they did not get out yest. Some 2.5 wks to first spring & 1 mo to daffodils - hardly looks it but it sorts itself out every time...

Road running 37:00 [3] 3.8 mi (9:44 / mi)

With Diane & David, mellow at noon hour. Forgot running shoes, ran in discard lowcut hiking boots - did once before - & will make sure I don't repeat tomorrow. David 'popped' something above achilles.

Classic skiing 32:00 [2] 2.0 mi (16:00 / mi)

Such an excellent pm w/ gold shafts of sun etc - entrance plowed, drove to powerline & did local loops, a wintry moment, half moon overhead, blue sky, late sun - very nice. 2 snowmobilers.

Snow shovelling 1:00:00 [1]

Double session today, too bad not at the track. Maybe a foot of snow total, dry, light. Fell in the drive, no yaks! Had considered skiing but lost energy at end of day. Kind of a glum day - very quiet in town.

Rec'd 5 of 16 jpg's of Bear Brook from Pat today which open aligned in ocd 9. Realize I've lived much of what the lines depict - the long field, just about every path, Podunk Rd., numerous hills/Bear Hill, bogs, numerous streams... the time I got lost (a bit), stumbled onto a winter camp & got my only snowmobile ride bk to pkng lot. What could be more fun to look at than a fine basemap...:-)

Trail/woods running 54:02 [2] 5.0 mi (10:48 / mi)
shoes: Loco training

Parked at end of Robinson Rd, stayed on packed snowmobile til had to turn around. Could have cont'd but it would have involved road & had dogs. An abundance of pretty but thickish woods close by. Have not been in this part much in past few yrs - felt refreshing. Some big spurs & reentrants tumbling down to wetland, open hardwood on slopes, closer white pine growth where more gentle.

Note

There's a small spur by the road in Nottingcook that I've always had a fondness for - pretty little thing, see alot of it since it's roadside - throughout the 4 seasons. Below photo does not do it justice but snow's deep & maybe it's just hard to capture. Also like the 'forest dark' just beyond, denoted w/ veg boundary.

When I got the Nottingcook basemap & was wondering how good it might be, one place to look (so I thought) was where the spur should be - & there it was! Below shows basically basemap w/ field work additions. Spur is in center, just of south of road, red vertical grid just to west...
