Hiking Stick 47:12 [1] 1.24 mi (38:03 / mi) +41m 34:31 / mi

Old Stumpfield w/ B&W. Gray& cool & then a down pour, hunkering under one umbrella. The more wet W got, the more her enthusiasm. GPS had the shakes. June ended with rain, finally.

Hiking Stick 54:48 [1] 1.22 mi (44:56 / mi) +38m 40:58 / mi

Great Hill with Willow. Rained hard last night! Gray, wet, cool, layers of gray cloud, light NE wind - all a very nice contrast to hot sun. Left the house with a chipmunk loose in the dining room and met a young barefoot walker on the trail - not everyday sights.

Not in "training" mood recently. With B&W, decided to see what we could find on River Rd. and walked on this dead end street which we've driven down on several occasions. Also walked on RR track. Straight ahead sign said "beware of dog". It's a private, redneck, dead end by the Merrimack where the dog(s) would be long in the tooth and the men mean with their long guns. But routine is always in need of review and deviation.

Hiking Stick 15:00 [1] 0.35 mi (42:53 / mi)

Henniker-Warner road, added for recollection of the most recent occasional 'magnet' destination. Second time through in the past 3 months, S to N, with the same walk we took last time but we went further up the hill. Wanted a gps trace should I choose to return as armchair participant in AP memorabilia at a unique place - based on early impression.

Hiking Stick 50:00 [1] 1.4 mi (35:43 / mi)

To Great Hill summit with B&W and Anna. Start about 0945. Hazy on first pass, could see off to W on return. W got quite hot, esp on top of Gt. Hill. Gave Anna a Nottingcook map and a compass intro.

Hiking Stick 40:37 [1] 1.06 mi (38:22 / mi) +13m 36:57 / mi

With W - late in day, still hot. No reasonable water - W won't drink it and can't get in it because it's too muddy or too muddy an access.

Cane/walking stick 26:48 [1] 0.67 mi (40:01 / mi)

With W around 4pm. Lo 90s but less on shaded path as well. Getting to open at the end made me turn around. W first entertained with a portion of deer leg, then ate something on the road then flopped down back up on something long dead, then got in stream & rolled on ground when we got back. Did this walk for Willow so we could go for a convertible ride later.

Two days of thunder & some localized dark cloud but not even a sprinkle.

Single cane 38:33 [1] 0.73 mi (52:48 / mi) +13m 50:02 / mi

Out & back w/ W, still cool in shade. Yesterday maxed lo 90s, today the same.
Hot weekend in store. Swimming hole days. Paper says 0.2" rainfall 5/15 to 6/15.

Walking 43:56 [1] 1.25 mi (35:08 / mi) +29m 32:47 / mi

Old Stumpfield with Beth & W. Left bug repellent home accidentally. I don't think I was bit by a single mosquito on this road thru woods walk. W. had a fine dip at turn around point. Fine June wx & walk.

What Fun!

Note

Winslow St., Mt. Kearsage with Beth & W. Wanted Rollins to drive to top. Had a day pass for Winslow, should have been at Rollins. Nice drive, decent views but not summit, proper park next time. Brought back the Jan. 31, 2015 cold, windy sunset hike with Bob D & crew.

Walking 23:00 [1] 0.48 mi (47:57 / mi) +14m 43:58 / mi

Kimball Pond with B&W. Took Willow for a walk, Beth read. Brisk westerly, fine evening. Guessed I'd walked about a quarter mile, was pretty close, starting gps at turn around point..

Earlier mowed our small lawn for another form of exercise. Two weeks ago, I wondered if I could get the mower started for lack of pull power & for its age. It has started within the first few pulls every year for the past 10 and was a hand-me-down then.

Had balance exercise when we rewound about 600' of dog fence wire in woods, up & down, land mines etc. Beth went straight down, tripping on a nubbin of old tree. An exercise as such renders a 'regular' woods path easy.

Walking 43:06 [1] 1.3 mi (33:09 / mi) +16m 31:56 / mi

With Beth and Willow, finished as rain became steady. Noted 2 PD cars on entering, one was K9. Walking back saw two police cars driving on road we were going to walk on in a few minutes. Got to our car - there were 3 PD cars, two only feet away from ours and third about 30' (2 were K9). Also a sand sifting project adjacent with heavy machinery/noise. We parked where we did for not best of reasons. No officers in cars around ours. Leaving, there were 2 more PD K9 cars at the powerline. Stopped to inquire. K9 training day. 2 state, 2 Bow, one Auburn. Nice to know it was only that.

Walking 49:55 [1] 1.2 mi (41:36 / mi) +14m 40:09 / mi

At Elm Brook Park with Willow. Splendid visit - it doesn't get greener and bluer than today. No humidity, NW breeze. Acres and acres of lawn which wasn't optimal with 3 industrial-grade mowers for background. The park is closed for the season but was sprinkled with 'foot soldiers' enjoying the moment.

Single cane 49:53 [1] 1.14 mi (43:45 / mi) +45m 38:58 / mi

Great Hill around 5:45 w/ W. Felt good, used cane for rocks & roots part of walk. Breezy on top, excellent views. Met 1 couple and a family of 4, the latter in particular thrilling W. Twice today, a muddy dog, the second time, needing cleaning, in a trail side marsh before getting back to car. Should have anticipated. 2nd Gt. Hill walk post-op.

Walking 38:51 [1] 0.88 mi (44:09 / mi) +56m 36:52 / mi

Old Stumpfield Rd with B&W. Walked to end of OSR, noted a small path along the water, which went on. Then it occurred to me it might go to the boat launch which it more or less did. Needed a walking stick, for O-like walk. Excellent balance exercise, occasionally a challenge, and woods adventure in hemlock/pine woods. Worked hard to avoid PI in last part.

June evening

"Don't tread on me"

This little guy fell to the garage floor when I opened the door. I put him outside. "Bug off, buddy".

Walking 28:00 [1] 0.7 mi (39:59 / mi)

Nottingcook with W. Still excavating etc in way back tho we saw no one. One crushed milk snake, one turtle at BHS last night that we removed from road.
