WU
Met the infamous Jon Duncan at today's arena. It was a very exciting experience, only topped by seeing the previously mythical legend Ralph Street.

NM Sprint Relay - 2nd Leg - 7th best male leg +57s
Managed to wake up the legs warming up and was quite excited to race in a competitive position. Agnes handed over quite high up and I headed out with a wee chasing pack to number 1. Brutal climb up and long gaffle but played it well and held off a few chasers. A few hesitations in the far loop, unfolding the map etc. but then had some good pace down to spectator. Ralph caught up in the final loop and outran me on the last few controls so I finished 5th.
Nice first experience of an MSR before a potential competitive run in the summer. A little bit off the pace but hope my gaffling has something to do with this. Think the style of orienteering suits me quite well, really hated unfolding the map to check codes but this shouldn't be a problem at international level.

Easy
With Emil out to the Ingebritsen lake before attempting the segment on a very tired pair of legs. We did quite well, Emil overtook me though and some other orienteers took a few more seconds out of us (most likely with a rested, standing started I hope).

NM Sprint Q - Immigrant Class (=Heat 1) - 1st (2nd +5s)

Perhaps the cleanest race I've run this year, but perhaps quite easy terrain too. Very enjoyable pristine Stavanger streets with a bit of interesting architecture and routechoice occasionally. Switched off before the run-in and dropped 10s taking the wrong road, losing the heat win but noncompetitive due to my residency anyway so no big deal. Very nice to know where my sprint capabilities lie among Norwegians.

NM Sprint F Tempo

This was fun in completely different ways to the morning. I was given a handheld GoPro and told to film my run, but quickly instead planned to chase Stepan Mudrak, another guest from FSK/CZE, round his race. At first I was slightly gutted to miss out on racing the final properly but it quickly turned into a very funny experience.

Chased Stepan off the start and filmed him for a few controls, struggling to keep up. Then he began to tire so I got some side on shots and probably even annoyed him at one point when I started running backwards and filming him from in front on a long routechoice hehe. I then dropped the tired man and ran through a wedding, before waiting for him after the arena passage. Chased him for the last loop, dropped him before the finish, and ran straight through the download, drink station, volleyball court, public area, and into the lake, still filming as planned.

Footage was used for the main Norwegian channel NRK 1 on its 7pm news broadcast so nice bit of publicity there, and enjoyed the experience feeling like a cameraman at WOC gone full havoc.

Long
With Emil to Hoias the nice way and then the northern long run route. Great weather and good chat so run flew by, exploring the segments on the way. Had a swim before getting back to the clubhut, and then was inspired to attempt the Hoias XC track lap segment. Smashed it at a good pace but then didn't have much motivation to WD. Very nice run.

Social orienteering running/chatting with Viktor. Got occasionally lost when the conversation took over from mapreading, good relocation/distraction training... Gloriously sunny day on some of Halden's best terrain, AxelÄs.
