EOC Relay - 2nd Leg, GBR 2
Another mixed experience, overall poor but positives to take out too.
+ Fitness felt good today, warm up went well despite hot weather and didn't feel inhibited as I often do at big champs races.
- Running on my own was unexpected, and I made several mistakes to the first few having been ready to be in a position of running with other people. One huge hash of a control going on a dodgy compass kicked me back into gear, but maybe have lost up to 3mins from mistakes or dodgy RC.
+ Once I began running with other people it went really well. I caught Regborn going at 90% (before tomorrow) and then he began to push the pace. I raced him to the end, and at least he claimed he couldn't of pushed harder when we were pushing, not sure what that means but it sounds good to me.
- Despite planning the long leg perfectly the day before, I took a bad RC, partially due to the train I was in but also didn't do enough planning in advance.
+ Had I been in the front pack I'm confident I would have kept the pace and made fewer mistakes. The good sections of 10mila shows this too. I'm in good physical shape and therefore good relay shape which bodes well for the rest of the season.
++++++ Also overtook the Danish 2nd team at one point by getting some sick air off a MTB jump. That was cool.
