Note

The events in Charlottesville have shaken me and kept me up, unable to rest.

As a representative of my country in international competition, I want to make it perfectly clear that I, like the ACLU, will not be silent in the face of white supremacy in our country. While these people have the right to free speech, their ideology is incompatible with American ideals.

Thanks to the ACLU for standing up for Americans' rights. It's up to the rest of us to support them in their task.

Easy run to CDC with a few short courses on the Pine Tree Micromap. Not sure how the scale got screwed up on one. Oh well. Still good fun. No streamers out, I just didn't let myself leave each point until I was 100% sure I was at the right tree.

I decided to do Casa de Campo Backbanan because I wanted to inject some intensity into my legs. Easy runs get boring after a while. I also wanted to see how slow I had gotten compared to peak fitness. This was a 1:30 slower than my fastest time.

I'm a few kilos heavier and not in the same shape, but really the biggest difference was that I wasn't ready to push mentally. After taking so much time away from hard workouts, my mind's gone soft. Not that I'm worried about that at this moment, but I'll need to recover my mental fortitude if I'm going to fight off the attacks from BigWillyStyle and others at competitions this fall. This is gonna be fun.

Got to do an impromptu orienteering course in this maze today. It's amazing how much fun a challenging map can be. Time includes a five-minute break in the center.
