Siete Revueltas with Luisma on a Kartta map with OSM data

We both decided to do this course at a fairly easy pace. Not long distance race pace essentially. Beautiful, wet, steep woods.

I didn't do the final loop because I was already an hour and a half in and wanted to make sure Luis didn't get home too late. Also 1:30 in that terrain was plenty for right now.

A rerun of the MK middle from September

I ran this race very poorly in September, so I decided to rerun it with Luisma and execute it well. I wish I could do this with all my terrible races. Go back, erase the errors, and come out with confidence. Took off 12 minutes from the previous time.

May Backbanan test.

I ran slower than I did a month ago. However the grass this month was up to my chest. A month ago it was up to my knees. It was not too much fun running through this. Also the firebreaks had loads of nettles growing in them. Lovely. Barreled through them as best I could.

No GPX track this week as apparently I didn't get a good signal. The whole track is too funky to be any good.

Middle at the Open O-Games (the World Cup public event)

Solid race. Antonio ran 29:5X. Andreu ran 28:XX. William Lind ran 25:56

Not many mistakes. Just running off bearing.

Not too terribly difficult because the trails helped reorient you fairly often.

Evening training with Andreu and Antonio.

We did this as a series of 4 mass starts with 1-2 minute breaks in between. The 43 minute is the total is including the breaks.

Map:

Mass start
(1) #1-6, ~1km (~4:15) I won.
(2) #6-10, Antonio won.
(3) #10-16, I won.
(4) #16-Finish. Antonio won, but only beat me by a few seconds on the sprint into the finish.

It was interesting to do this exercise. I orienteered well and ran quickly. I was competitive. When I was talking about this with Ben I described the feeling as agressive, but he suggested it was probably more decisive in my process. I agree with that judgement. I saw what Andreu and Antonio were doing but I maintained by own course. Now I need to race like this in high-pressure scenarios.

If anyone reading my AP has any reflections on this, I'd be quite interested to hear them.
