Running 1:35:00 [3] 13.3 mi (7:09 / mi)

Long run with Dustin. He promised me a flat run at 1:00 in the afternoon. I've decided not to believe him anymore. We did the Twin Bridges loop and that is one of the hilliest runs we've got. Also the heat eventually got to me and my body started shutting down towards the end of the run due to the intense heat. It's not even about my fitness or mental fortitude. Just at a certain point my body starts shutting muscles down.

Running 1:10:00 [3] 9.5 mi (7:22 / mi)

30 sec hill reps on Treat hill with Schelander and Wade. I'm not sure why exactly but these hurt more than usual. We agreed not to start pushing the pace until the end and those hurt a lot. My legs tied up n the last one and I couldn't keep sprinting up the hill the way I was. But the hill was pretty steep too. I guess I forgot how steep it was. Next time we do these I think I'll go to a slighter incline so I can get resistance but get my legs going faster. Still I loved pushing it with these guys. It helped a ton to have them out there.

Running 1:10:00 [3] 9.9 mi (7:04 / mi)

A fast run on the drive that felt like a jog. I was clicking off 6:25-6:35 on the drive and no joke at all I felt like I was jogging. I wanted to run 7:00-7:10 and then at the first mile marker I got a bit of a pleasant surprise. I've noticed that when I do a really long comfortably hard workout the next day is usually really fast and feels easy. But when I do intervals that are very short and fast the next day my legs feel heavy. Just part of my process of finding out more about myself. My overall pace was slowed down by the 12x20/40 that I did in Houston soccer field afterwards. Last 6 barefoot.

Running 30:00 [2] 3.3 mi (9:05 / mi)

Warmup/ Midrun Jog/ Cooldown. Each ten minutes. Midrun jog was done in between 2x20 min segment.

Running 20:00 [4] 3.6 mi (5:33 / mi)

First 20 minute steady state segment. I went out too fast. (5:26 instead of 5:45) It didn't feel difficult but it was also the first mile. I cooled down after that and went into a solidly comfortably hard pace after that. I kept freaking out because I was thinking "this is getting difficult" and then I remembered... it's supposed to hurt.

Running 20:00 [4] 3.55 mi (5:38 / mi)

Second 20 minute steady state segment. I went slightly shorter on this one. Mainly because I didn't have a blazing first mile and it was slightly uphill on the way back. I held a steady pace for the first 3 miles and then last half I kicked it up a bit. It hurt but I felt I was doing a good job of controlling my breathing and my form. My form was certainly breaking several times but then I remembered just to keep moving my arms like I was hitting a drum. That helped. Fun run. Thinking about BOMF people did actually help. weird.

Running 1:10:00 [3] 10.6 mi (6:36 / mi)

I was going to 12x30 sec hill repeats tonight. But I was warming up and my legs were telling me they'd prefer to just do a run and save the hill repeats for Saturday since I have a workout on Thursday. So instead I did a nice fast run on the drive with a late run excursion on the side trails to slow myself down a bit and get some trail running in.

Supplementary Jog 18:00 [2] 1.8 mi (10:00 / mi)

Running 1:10:00 [3] 10.2 mi (6:52 / mi)

I think I had a bit of spirit quest vision during this run. I felt really good despite the heat. I was averaging about 6:15-6:20 pace. 12x20/40 in Houston soccer field inspired by Kswede. Last 4 I did barefoot and I was really moving. I loved it.
