Running 1:35:00 [4] 14.0 mi (6:47 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline-A

Progression run on the Rail Trail. I wanted to try and do each mile faster than each previous one but that was completely possible due to slight changes in elevation. This is the farthest I've ever gone out on the rail trail and it was very strange out there because it is very far out there.
My Miles:
7:47
7:16
7:19
6:53
6:51
6:37
6:38
6:10
6:06
5:51
6:01
5:56
5:52.
Overall I generally sped up over the whole run. I had to stop sometimes because I felt like the effort was getting too anaerobic but I wasn't standing around for longer than 25-30 seconds max. I had a different outlook on the running today. I didn't have it the whole run but it didn't bother me to be running hard for that long. The way I saw it is that I didn't have to worry about "protecting" myself from the pain. Beautiful Day.

Running 50:00 [3] 6.8 mi (7:21 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline- D

Night run on Campus after coming back from the WCU Invite. I got to talk to Spence a bit about the races and how I am starting to feel better from getting more rest. Clear night sky. Got to see so many stars.

Running 1:10:00 [5] 9.7 mi (7:13 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline-A

Workout day. I started trying to do it on the grass but I was tiring out too quickly so I moved to the track. 4x200 on 200 jog. 4x1000on 400 jog. 2x400 on 400 jog. I dropped out at the800 in my first 1000 because my pace kept slowing down more and more. Then I moved to the track. Tough workout. I felt terrible but that may be an effect of overtraining and doing it alone. At least I finished it, I'm happy with that.
My Times:

I felt alot better in the 1000s then I normally do so that's good news at least. One symptom of overtraining which I have learned about which is specific to endurance athletes is that it's difficult to get your heart rate up when exercising hard. I think that's been the case for me. I started feeling much more able to relax and breathe relaxed during the 1000s then I have been for a very long time. Plus it was pretty windy on the backstretch so I got slowed down alot there.

Running 20:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

I cannot get a break right now. I was doing steeple drills and when I went over the water jump I came down hard on my right ankle and now it's hurting enough to keep me from racing this weekend. I am very frustrated by this. It seems like everywhere I turn something is holding me back. I'll have a chance to try it at our home meet in 2 weeks but I just feel so pissed off right now. My inner demons are having a field day with this.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:30 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline- D

Rail trail with Kris. We did a very easy pace as is the plan for me. I've been checking out the symptoms for overtraining and found out that I have alot. One which is a pretty key indicator is elevated resting heart rate. Normally my resting heart rate is 44 but I haven't been below 50 for a long time. So hopefully this decrease in amount and intensity will help me.

Running 51:00 [3] 7.0 mi (7:17 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline-A

Steeplechase workout today. It was really easy because the hurdles were only at 30 inches instead of the 36 I'll need to jump over. I did 2x5 minutes at 6 minute per mil pace with a 3 minute break in between then 4x400 at race pace on a 400 jog.
My times:
5:00
5:00

Then a 10 minute cooldown. I've realized that pacing with the hurdles/barriers is very very difficult. I had a general idea what pace I was going but I was supposed to run 80s for the 400s. So I was a little off but I think in the race it won't matter so much. I'm looking forward to giving it a shot this weekend.

Note
(rest day)

Decided to take the day off in effort to avoid possibly overtraining myself. I went over my logs from last years track season and saw that it was only when I stopped working as hard as I thought I "needed" to and dropped my mileage that I started running faster. I started at 10:40 and finished at 9:48 in the 3200. I'd say I'm safe to drop my mileage a bit and give my workaholism a break.
