Note

Storms closed down the cable car and today's orienteering. Boo.

cycling to and from the event. Thankfully it's a flat valley.

Day 4.

Must have done too much maths on the rest day. Relatively worse performance (slightly).

Planner did a good job in setting up some nice legs in broken terrain. Fun.

I wonder are the 7 contours to the start flag counted in the course stats?

Not very smooth to the second. Went left to 3, not sure which is better. Left to 4, leaving the 8 contours to the end of the leg. 5,6 were trivial, as was 7, except I messed it up, very stupid. Overshot 12, a contour too high (or two?). Not convinced by my route to 17, seem to have lost time. But also, my feet were slipping a bit in my O-rocs. 42 xtalons are too short, and o-rocs with extra insoles and some added padding are too big. Argh.

18 to the finish was fast and easy.

Note

My Trackpod disappeared. Is it in Geneva, or did it fall out on the way home from France?

Day III
Open mountain at Diavolezza.

I need better feet and quads. Parts of it reminded me of running around Slievemore, other bits were even stonier. The climbs didn't seem to get rewarded adequately.

I think I did about 300m of climb. Pretty.

Went for a walk with Brendan and Mary after up to the Moratsch glacier. Somehow my Canon switched to B/W mode without me asking it to (I didn't even know how).

trail run 25:00 [3]

To start.

O-Rocs. Bit more space for the toes, bit less stability.

Day II

Stony and painful, bad idea to wear the xtalons again. Thought it might be okay for a short race. At this speed, it isn't hard enough.

Note

Somehow made it to S-Chanf only ten minutes after my start time, five minutes after last start... start was only ten minute jog away, so there were still people there packing tents and with a pile of clear/check/start boxes on the ground. I am not allowed to tell you that after a little pleading and smiling, a map appeared. Hurrah.

Swiss O Week Day I
S-chanf

Mostly clean (pitstop en route to 15), 10m overshoot to 8, a few hesitations... so much easier than France.

Wore x-talons, size 42, a little short for me judging by the painful toe.
