Note

Made some rather fantastically salty, non-sugary shortbread biscuits. Texture and timing were perfect, at least.

Headed up towards Nid d'Aigle, but the upper part of the trail was closed for the winter, couple of ladders closed. In retrospect, I think with the lovely conditions, I could have made it and done the loop coming back down beside the tramway, but oh well.

Took the road via Sallanches back, the sunset on Mt Blanc et al made me pull over for a few minutes, a good spot to eat some tasty pastries. A few minutes later, the moon rose above the massif, all quite spectacular.

And lucked out in Sallanches, there was a market on, so I could buy some old Beaufort d'Alpage and tomme de chevre. My fridge was tragically devoid of cheese before setting out, so that was good.

Carrying trackpod again, reckon 800m climb is closer to reality than the 898 registered, but who knows. Speed was pretty abysmal, barely faster than walking on the uphill, not much better on the downhill. Body still feels a little run-down, despite me behaving sensibly for a considerable period.
