Eventually took the train to Gryon. Window view:

Got out for a run towards 3pm, which meant that the sun appeared below the upper cloud level when I was up on top of the Chaux. Pretty!



As always, taking the train up out of the fog is magical.

I had intended taking a slightly different route, continuing along the Chaux ridge for a little bit, before contouring and dropping. The way I went was a bit less sketchy given it was sunset and I no longer had a map.

St-Cergue - la Barillette - La Dole - St-Cergue

Lovely out, warm (12-15º?), saw some chamois. I might have seen Geneva but it was cloudy down there.


Kept it slow, tried not to break my dodgy back or other parts of my anatomy, and to breathe through the nose as much as possible. I think at some point I should try nose clips.

Came home with two pounds of cheeeese.
