orienteering 35:00 [2] 2.81 km (12:26 / km)
9c

A not very successful attempt at doing a good training session on the 2010 WC course. I was a bit tired by the time I started, and then some steep slope have a load of branches on the ground didn't help motivation. Quit after the butterfly, no point forcing things.

trail run 25:00 [3]

Not sure how long this took. Ran up a field, up and down through some woods, up a grassy slope, along a patch of road, through some woods, across a road, up some trails, to the start of the orienteering.

I was accompanied by a Jonas who was barefoot. He also followed me the first control and a half of the orienteering. His brother.
2 PM

trail run 40:00 [2] 4.61 km (8:41 / km)

And back to the ranch.

trail run 1:20:00 [3] 11.45 km (6:59 / km) +250m 6:18 / km

Morning jog. Vineyards, horses, goats, sheep with bells...

Not sure how much up and down.

Note

Didn't sleep enough to train today.

While I was breakfasting, it was sunny. Fifteen minutes later, overlooking Jonction...

The science buildings are behind the trees across the Arve

The fog disappeared after the 9am coffee, and on the way home, I cross this bridge.

I don't live in the first row.

Look left, Jura.

And right, Alps.

Not a bad commute. No excuse for not training though.

2 PM

trail run 43:30 [2] 5.43 km (8:01 / km) +150m 7:02 / km

Trying out my new Quechuas. With neoprene socks plus O socks, they fit well, and have grip.

Missed the train, so hitched au Praz golf course, ran from there to Argentieres on a wet, slushy trail. Very grateful for the socks. The car that picked me up had driven past, then turned around and came back for me. English lady from Zimbabwe, living there with family. Kind.

3 PM

bogtrotting 12:15 [2] 1.73 km (7:06 / km)

And back down again, a little faster :)

In the words of a French guy who was descending as I was heading up, "c'est la kif totale!"

trail run 28:00 [3] 1.65 km (16:57 / km) +350m 8:14 / km

Hitched a ride from Argentieres to Le Tour. Said päivä to some Finns, they were a little surprised. Jogged (mostly) up the snowy trail to the first telecabine stop. Not much by way of views as the fog was descending.
4 PM

running 29:16 [2] 4.8 km (6:06 / km)

Down the road to Argentieres, -260m
where I hitched a ride in the back of a camionette to Bossons. Not much by way of comfort or view, but it meant I got back in time.

running 12:00 [3] 2.0 km (6:00 / km)

And back from Bossons to the Schoolhouse. With time to shower, eat, pack and stroll out to catch the bus.

Walking back from the gare routière to my apartment in St Jean, entering my quartier, I said Ilta to a Finnish lady and her dog. She was a little surprised.
