Well this day started well! Fun of the highest order.

Fantastic training in Garbatella, nearly worth a trip to Italy just for this.

Courtesy of Wikipedia: The older section of the area is divided into project units (Italian: lotto), each of them made of several buildings grouped together around a common yards: this design was borrowed from the Garden city movement. This kind of architectural agglomeration in Rococo style, consists of a common garden area which serves as an informal meeting point for all the families that live in the lotto.
The Italian version has way more information.

Anyway, from an orienteering perspective, there were inordinate changes of direction, small garden paths and fences galore, and a whole lot of thinking to be done. Planning ahead was difficult, keeping current was already hard. Only made a couple of mistakes towards the end as my concentration dropped, but definitely navigation was the limiting factor, rarely going close to full speed.

Highly recommended!
