trail run 34:38 [3] 5.04 km (6:52 / km)

South from 301, then decided that was silly and went north to Beaver Pond and went for a swim with the proprietor.

Long day, quick stroll of Boscobel grounds, hadn't the energy to do the house tour, then to Beacon, fish'n'chips, then went across the road to see what the cool building was, Howland Community Center, might be the nicest building I've been in in this country. It was built as a library, today it hosted a marathon poetry session, I lasted half an hour. Then Dia:Beacon, strange and bizarre, occasionally good. Back to the town centre to see some artistic glasswork, then ice-cream, then a gallery (one of maybe 50 on Main St) where the artist was inspired by her husband's electron microscopy work for some big multinational in Fishkill, we bitched about management of such companies for a bit.

Then went out for the run and swim, quick shower when I got home, then went down to the waterfront for music and fireworks (surprisingly impressive fireworks, I must say). Amazing what a nuclear power plant can do in that regard.

aerobic (bike/other) 30 [3]

Elliptical.
Watched the last ten minutes of Austria vs Russia in women's beach volleyball. I'm starting to see the attraction. The Austrian sisters were cool, pretty damn good and wore t-shirts!

Then some Democracy Now. Uplifting stuff from Syria. Ugh.

Calf didn't seem particularly confident, but held up. I went slowly and gently. There were a bunch of deer out mowing the baseball pitch.

NPR: Live Concerts from All Songs Considered Podcasts. So much choice.

Note

Ankle slowly improving. I can sill cause discomfort by pointing my toes down as far as possible. I don't understand. Not ready to run yet.

Note

Went for a walk up Storm King. As its name suggests, it is something of a mythic location. Here's Samuel Colman's take on it:

Avoided being eaten by these boys:

This is Breakneck Ridge, that I went up a week ago.

On the way 'down' from Breakneck last week, I went up Sugarloaf:

It was a bit hazy, but otherwise fantastic weather, worth risking a calf for. Fun chillin' with turkey vultures.
