Pelton Pond! First time here, all of 24 minutes from my place.
A fair amount of mountain laurel and blueberries (deathmatch?) and some new camp spots and trails... it's a place that teaches you to run like a Lakanen - high knee lift, flicked heels.
AOWN moment - right at the end, taking the trail along the edge of the pond, I saw what looked like a branch floating in the lake, but it was moving, so I stopped to see if there was a current or what. Every so often it paddled and gave itself a little impetus. Then it chilled, mostly stopped, then turned to look at me. After being studied for a while, I sang to it, and it swam closer for a better look. River otter, I think.
It's a good thing BM is so wonderful or this would ahve been skipped. Got home, lay on the futon for 45 minutes, skyped parents and then dragged myself out. Body is tired.
