Charlie and Rhonda know how to host. Wonderful house, woods, orienteering, food, people, a really uplifting evening.
And some people were being quite funny. Poor NEOC risk losing all their members in the war.

Therapeutic trail run on BM. I chose a good place to live.

RhinO short course,
Ratlum, CT.
Led this race from the second control to the last. On the second last control I made a 30s mistake, so at the last control I only had a two second lead over Marie. She took four seconds off of me on the run-in. Oops.

Second time out on the map, which perhaps made it easier. Except the third control was the same, and I didn't do it as well. And leaving the 3rd I also lost time at the fence - I think that trail/gap are higher in reality than on the map.
Ran well until the 12th, where I ended up clambering through green somewhat lost. Found another boulder and relocated. Messed up 13 too, ran too far along the path and had to come back.
The controls were pretty reflective, so could see them from a long way off, but I was orienteering well, choosing good routes and reading the contours well.
Fun times.
Got in the door and Charlie downloaded me and congratulated me for winning both courses, and two seconds later Marie arrived having rocked the short :)
Aagghhh
Stupid company bigwig decided it would be a good idea to save money by decreasing the default toner level on the printers (so I heard this evening), so most of the stuff that gets printed on the B/W printer is more or less illegible, to the point I just dumped a 30 page article I printed without reading it (and to the point that Peter got an expense reimbursement rejected because the printout of the receipt was illegible).
Option 1 - print on the brand new colour printer which is really quite nice, but seems counterproductive.
Option 2 - change the print settings to best quality rather than default, but I can't seem do that on a Mac.
And some Mac internal entertainment:
"If you preview a PDF file before printing it and then print that preview, you may notice a decrease in the quality of the printout because you are printing a PDF file created from a PDF file.
To get the best quality when you print a PDF file, find the window containing the original PDF file and print the original."
Very fun weekend with great food and company and training/racing the whole way through. Big thanks to all concerned! Nice to see Marek and Peter coming up for Saturday's O and Todd coming to Sessions Woods. I'm not sure what chenritzo was doing letting Todd beat her...
And I didn't have to drive home, oh the luxury!
I wonder does Google appreciate being associated with these fun and games: Pics (many due to Balter).

WCOC Sessions Woods.
Getting closer to real orienteering, still not fast enough nor quite smooth enough, and fairly trounced by Ali and Brendan. Fun stuff, and brief encounters with lots of good people I don't see enough of.
Edit - I lost a fair bit of time on each long leg. Maybe I should train or something. On 6 I did actually lose 20-30s through loss of contact and weaving and whatnot, and Brendan was a minute ahead on this leg. Ouch.
