Note

Orienteering gets a mention in the IT. No explanation, just "thrills".

Finally 'ran' one of the TT courses, Brown Long... mighty fine if I don't say so myself, the best Brown I've run all year. It was crepuscular verging on dark towards the end, so reading the map wasn't easy, tried to use more open forest and trails for better light.

Lost contact badly on the long leg to 3 but never went too far off line... then took a while to work out the boulders at 4, after that clean but not smooth (I blame the light).

Only saw a couple of new trees down, and they were passable, so hopefully Irene didn't get up to too much mischief.

Note

Not Pawtuckawaying this weekend. Boo. Last year was so much fun.

Didn't sleep well last night for some reason. First one in a while I've been asleep less than 8. Still got 11 hours in bed.

Newton Emerson
continues to amuse*:
"1883 The league calls for a radical overhaul of Ireland’s bankruptcy laws, so that people who want to walk away from their debts and emigrate to Australia will no longer be arrested and transported to Australia."

*familiarity with the Irish economy** may be helpful

** an economy would be helpful

Went for a spin around Saxon Woods, the (overly hard, I suppose) night-O I got Anna to do back in January. Fun course and a great little area.

Preceded by mapping another wee bit of manhattanville

Followed by eating half a perfectly ripe and juicy melon with no flavour whatsoever. Emigrate.
