orienteering 32:00 [3] 2.5 km (12:48 / km)

West Point

Got a map for the WP A-meet "sprint" and headed out. HR hit 177 in the hundred metres jog to the first control, so slowed down and walk-jogged the course.

Bummer. I was hoping I was more or less healthy. Better rest tomorrow. And the title was there for the taking this year. damn damn damn

Good to meet up with lots of people.

Note

Listening to tiomila radio. IFKL near the top. Good stuff!

I like the way that when not very much happens the commentary has to be low-key, but still sounds great!

Note

And now I'm listening to Mårten who I think is Mårten F hiding in the woods: "Han har inte sett oss. Denseln göra lite bom... han var tjugo meter från kontroll... " beautiful stuff...

Out for 1h36, scouting Middle terrain plus a control site for the long. Some bits of map are better than others, so there was a fair bit of walking and head-scratching. Still, found a couple of nice controls sites and if people run fast enough they won't notice anything wrong ;p

Woods are still varying shades of white. And I'll need a couple more hours out there.

I feel way better than I did a week ago. And I have slightly heavy homemade sourdough bread to eat.

Barbara Liskov gave an interesting talk at work today. There's probably somebody who will read this geeky enough to know who she is. Maybe.

Lovely Polish breakfast this morning after nearly doing my back in spinning a chunky gal around... mostly true...

Then went to scout out some bike trails. Found a nice bbq spot in the woods. Met Nadya and gave her a couple of maps.

Played with the bit of the sprint map that has arrived. Here's a sample.

Don't worry, it gets a lot more interesting than that! Going to be a fun race.
