orienteering 40:45 [5] 3.3 km (12:21 / km)

Primorska League, Slovenia. Predgrize.
A map I trained on once over the summer. Didn't exactly help my confidence, but made the orienteering a _little_ easier. A fantastic area. Beautiful weather too.

Tihomir Salopek ran 35:42 and he made a couple of mistakes.

I pushed as hard as I could, therefore lost contact a couple of times... didn't relocate properly on the second last control wasting a couple of extra minutes. Ran a few legs about as well as I could, but overall it wasn't a great run. Could have done 35 without too much trouble, maybe. v enjoyable though!

PS yes of course, 3.3km was the longest course.

running 1:10:00 [4]

ICTP to Trieste
jogged up the hill, as far as the motorway, went oops and headed back to find the start of the Strada Napoleonica. Got overtaken by some guy, said this ain't on... so ran hard the length of the Napoleonica and on as far as Villa Giulia. took the last half a km easy :)

Have to run hard more often. even if it kills me.

orienteering 1:46:40 [4] 9.8 km (10:53 / km) +500m 8:40 / km

Monte Grappa, Veneto long distance champs... winner ran 84. I ran over 700m of climb (I counted 750 but...) - well, running is something of a misnomer. Didn't have a lot of energy. Didn't feel like I was good at orienteering. Walked up quite a few hills. first half of the course was nice. Then there was a 2.5km mostly path leg and the rest wasn't particularly techincal. Hohum.
Tired after the previous evening was my excuse :)
