2hr walk up a hill from ft montgomery. pretty.
The swelling went down enough yesterday to feel my kneecap so I figured I could try going for a walk today. hopefully it'll be ok... have to start running again soon. Washed clothes today - load was very light without tons of sports gear. Still popping ibuprofen.

Went to see some baroque music in Fort M this evening. The violinist gave up halfway through one tune she had trouble playing, somewhat indicative of the standard. Then was taught some thermodynamics by a truck driver and molecular biochemistry by a recently fired photographer. Poles are great :)

Note

Went swimming in a local lake. There was a 20m*20m area cordoned off where it was permitted to swim for a few hours per day, provided a lifeguard was present. Otherwise it was forbidden to swim there. Obviously REM aren't big in NY. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qx9br5ISRpo

Rt knee is well puffed up, even more so then when I left Sweden, started on ice and ibuprofen. May have spent too much time cooped up in a plane on Friday, and waling around town yesterday.

Strange it hasn't repaired itself...

drove to just past sundsvall on Monday, then on to stockholm on tuesday. survived quite well, surprisingly... giving the knee a bit of rest after all the running and carousing the past week.

Sprint in Trondheim, WOC Tour open (A1) class

Lost a couple of seconds on hesitations in the first part of the course (3-5) where there were lots of controls and people in the way. Then it went fine. Shea beat me by 40 seconds nearly after overtaking me twice. Fun.

Good atmosphere at the centre, and up on the fortress was pretty cool.

This was lots of fun. Lost the plot a little towards the end, losing time on 10 (20s), 12, 13, 16... four mins behind Shane. Ran without a compass as part of my back to basics plan to more enjoyable and better orienteering.

WOC Middle Q, Heat A

After the race I felt empty for twenty minutes. Then got excited when AQ was coming in, he damn nearly made it. Ten minutes later I was ready to cry. I was on the verge of it for the next half hour. Awfully I ran. Nearly spiked the first control, a few metres too high and then faffed around, lost the guts of two minutes.

possibly dodgy route to 4, not fast enough in any case. hesitated before 5 when I should have been able to see it, lost 10s... 7 I went around the block, atrocious again. Zigzag on 8, mistake on 9, corrected fast - 30s....

5 minutes easily I guess, still wouldn't have qualified, but at least I went be so upset with myself. A bad day.
