orienteering race 1:20:00 [3]

Isle d'Adam
Spent after yesterday. Mistake on the second followed by a fall on the way to the third knocked out the momentum a bit. Even if the vegetation was way off and I have a few doubts about the contours and scales, the forest (brambles and all) is nice and it was lovely to be running a no-pressure, not especially technical course just for pleasure.

Walked over an hour from the station to find the accueil, Gael dropped me back after :)

Tired. Lovely day. 20 degrees and sunshine was it?

trail run 1:50:00 [3]

First long run (non-orienteering) in a long while. Almost made it to Vaux de Cernay before reaching turn-back.

All of it after the Ferme de Coubertin was on trails. Lovely day.

running 45:00 [3]

to Chateau de la Madeleine and back. Started 21h30, well after night-fall.... very tired (not physically) after thinking maths all day.

other 28 [3]

16 minutes rowing machine, 12 bike

trail run warm up/down 5:00 [3]

warm-up

orienteering race 1:54:00 [4]

Nationale 2, Classic race, La Stele (near la bourboule)

nothing spectacular... nice bit of open, moderately technical terrain for the first 6 controls where I stupidly lost maybe 3 minutes... another mistake on the 8th after trying to escape - EddieW who caught me early on overshot the 7th....

another big mistake on the 12th and I was way down the classement in 24/5th...

Way, way more mistakes than I should be making. I think bacause I'm not fit enough to concentrate (?)

trail run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

warmup/down

orienteering 44:09 [4]

Le Lac Pavin
which is a lovely volcanic lake (apparently at least 92 m deep!!) is the nam of the map, we were running above it. Lost 2 minutes on the first control like a con... pretty clear apart from that... couple of small mistakes.... not fit enough... TG 31:22

orienteering race 16:18 [5]

Le Parc Fenestre, La Bourboule

Nationale 2 Sprint Race
TG ran 13:14
Lost maybe 1 minute total?? not able to run fast either... well, it's relative... I reckon next year I should be regularly top-ten in French Sprints...

The map was not particularly great... stuff was on it in the right place, just nothing close to ISSOM norms....... symbols the wrong size, 3m crags marked as passable, old path symbols, different size symbols for the same thing etc. etc.

The race itself was good, if not especially fun. Lots of direction changes, map-reading etc.

trail run 1:00:09 [3]

Up the hill from studio to the end of the first set of woods, coming back did a loop east from the Grand Ragonant farm, had over a 100m climb extra.

First time I've felt good running in a long time. Apart from the bruised foot. Humph.

trail run 1:14:16 [3]

South from studio, around the plateau of Aigrefoin, passing by the CAT farm... nice to be out again. Foot still seems a bit bruised. Will get motivated for training again soon :)

Races next weekend, so another light week.

running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

more before the race than after (after with boris)

Thursday Oct 13, 2005 #

forest run 1:02:30 [3]

took a wee rest after the WC races.

My throat is still ever so slightly irritated from weeks back.

And my feet (or right foot at least) is slightly bruised I think, must look after it for the next while.

so, anyway, the run was up the hill, through as many depressions as I could find, off to Bois de Montabe and back by the old chemin de fer. Half of it was in terrain, the rest on trails. And there was at least 100m of climb.

running 28 [1]

monte livata, rest day.

running at what felt like my classic pace for the day before, the only pace I could jog at, and it was slowww... weather was nice for once, could see subiaco from the ridge.

Stretched and stuff too.
