trail run 29:10 [5] 7.5 km (3:53 / km)

Djouce Handicap
Nice day, beautiful day, slightly cold for ideal running conditions but not far off

ran eight seconds faster than AQ, for comparison, and fastest were well under 28 minutes

learned a couple of interesting stertches fo rthe outer thighs
now for a rest :)

orienteering 1:11:11 [4]

CRIFCOU 2
Foret de Chamarande
Nice place. Horsed up the first few controls badly enough for Pascal Corpet to catch me... couldn't shake him off afterwards. Well, did a couple of times but he ccame back, in fairness.
Need to concentrate better, and get back in shape. Run tomorrow, Sunday and then Break!

Usual problems still there.

running 8 [2]

warm-up for stretching
prof 15 mins late...

stretching 45 [1]

stretching class.

sitll a long way to go. notably one muscle has micro-tears along the back of my left thigh (ham) which needs a couple of weeks rest. bits of me are quite flexible, but sitting, legs straight (open or not) cannot lean forward at all...
possibly a slight problem with lower back also - lying flat on a thin mat puts it under stress...

still have right knee twinges... will run thurs, maybe fri, sunday and then 2 weeks rest.

orienteering 1:04:30 [4] 10.0 km (6:27 / km) +220m 5:49 / km
29c slept:0.0

Regionale 6, foret de rambouillet, map taillis somethingorother...

no sleep the night before, so tough going to make it to the event... mind very slow beforehand... once running things went better. The map was fantastic, the first time I've had this experience IDFsetminus(bleau) region.
Not overly technical, but nice forest, enough detail to keep it interesting and the map for once was good enough to engender confidence.

a few mistakes, and not running quite at full pace - right knee still raisiing questions. but beating FV's time of 58 zould have been tough.

given lack of sleep v happy with result. delighted to see a new GOOD map near Paris.

running 33:30 [2]

cite
deliberately slow. very deliberately. quite hard work not speeding up. day off tomorrow and we'll see whether i think my legs will hold up to running fast on sunday.

Wednesday Dec 8, 2004 #

trail run 58:50 [2]

deliberately not fast run, Orsay.

dusk-dark
legs need a couple of weeks off over christmas... athough it'll probably just be 4 or 5 days

Tuesday Dec 7, 2004 #

trail run 1:35:32 [3]

Orsay, a bit more creative with routes today, 3-4 uphills... rediscovered a detour around the muddy patch out west.... not _too_ cold today!

day off yesterday after 3hrs of O over the weekend and theatre-based training yesterday

running 10:00 [2]

stretching warm-up

stretching 45 [1]

45 minutes stretching

orienteering 2:10:57 [4] 14.0 km (9:21 / km)

WEHN
Grotte Beatrix (La Carosse?)

right knee tendons/ligaments/muscles acting up a bit so didn't xant to run hard. 30 minutes off the pace (DR, FV). Made a few mistakes, and because I wasn't going 100% mI wasn't mentally charged.... I don't think it's a real excuse for not reading the map as well as i should have.

only made two two or three mistakes in th first loop (59:03) but was already mentally tired halfway around it.
The second loop was less good. One major error - 32nd control - but not sharp at all mentally for the rest. Badatthe butterfly.

41 controls in all.
Took a while to warm up afterwards.

trail run 10:00 [2]

warm up. cold!

orienteering 31:43 [4] 4.6 km (6:54 / km)

WEHN, middle distance 1
Larchant,
First time running on this belle carte.

8 minutes off the world class pace set by dr (almost fourmins clear of the reest of the pack)

three minte mistake at the 7th.

orienteering 31:57 [5] 5.0 km (6:23 / km)

WEHN middle distance 2,
Larchant, chasing start.

started well, lost time at the third where I was looking for the control in the wrong rock arse-crack. caught by three others. Secnod of the four by the 10th, and I think I was ahead at the finish. FabriceV burned around in an unbeatable 27something, collecting everyone who was ahead of me.
Felt much better orienteering than the first stage.

forest run 15:00 [2]

warm down with jm and fv, picking up a couple of controls

Friday Dec 3, 2004 #

running 37:00 [3]

cité

decided to test my body. still a bit of trouble with cold/sore throat, but if i'm going ot be running the next two days...

feel surprisingly good afterwards.
did some core strength exercises today and yesterday.

right knee, outer side, slight to the fore, some possibly muscular twinges the last few days. don't know what it means but i don't like it much.

Wednesday Dec 1, 2004 #
