Blue course at local DVOA event at Batsto. 10.1km straightline, 145m climb. Pine barrens and blueberries, with subtle contours and a significant but somewhat complex trail network. Things were not leafed-out yet, so visibility was very good. Good course by Bob Burg.
Even with the abundance of blueberry undergrowth I figured that the terrain would be pretty fast, and it was. Small errors on three controls, mostly caused by not being able to see subtle terrain features (like the tire tracks mapped as parallel double ditches). Lots of compass work and trying to use trails when possible (although Bob did a good job sending us ways which the trails didn't go). Decent running weather, low 60s and overcast.

South Mountain Preserve. Ran to the interstate - lots of powerline and ATV trails, so probably don't need to do that again. The area closer to the highway is actually owned by the City of Allentown, so it may be less closely watched than the SMP land. Warmer than I expected (mid 70s) so coming back was a bit of a slog. Probably still tired from the weekend.

Stopped on the trip home from the Flying Pig to check out a section on the Abandoned PA Turnpike east of Breezewood, PA. Parked off of Pump Station road and hiked the old roadbed to the east end of the old Sideling Hill Tunnel. Went maybe 200m into the tunnel plus explored what's left of the ventilation equipment at the tunnel entrance. Lots of grafitti and anything which could be carried away has been. Apparently the tunnel is still sound even 49 years after it went out of service.
