Red course at Baldwin Hill local NEOC event (6.2 km SL, no climb stated). Nice course by Magnus B. Woods were very open with lots of leaves on the ground to cover up the rocks and deadfall. Just about perfect running weather, sunny and 50F.

I had a good run with only some small execution errors. Took the trail route from 5-6 but drifted right on the approach and wasn't exactly sure of my location when I hit the wall just before the control. Probably cost me a minute or so. Also lost a minute on 11 hitting the wall too far to the right (was way too conservative considering that the control was right next to the wall). Took the left (non-trail) route to 10.

Red course at Pineridge (5.1k SL, 225m climb).

I had a bit of an advantage for this event, having spent many hours on the map vetting controls for the A-meet a month ago. Eight of the eleven controls on the course were used in the A-meet, although approaches for some of them were different. Lost about three minutes on the 5-6 leg, drifting left of my intended line and getting confused about which trails I was crossing. Saw a bag on a feature used in the A-meet but I didn't recognize it, otherwise my recovery would have been quicker. Caught up to Phil B on the way to #7 and we played the which-route-choice-is-better game for the rest of the course. About 50F and overcast so good for running.

Thanks to Phil H-T for setting the courses and to Walter Kersch for letting us use his land and building (with warm water and flush toilets!).

Picking up controls at Pineridge.

Note

Skipped Pilates class to take advantage of a 70+ degree day to do some exterior painting which I had been procrastinating. Probably something beneficial in lots of trips up and down ladders.

At Ooms Conservation Area after voting and a trip to the dump. Upper 60s and sunny - not quite a typical November day.
