Walking around Ooms Conservation Area with Janet. Mostly cloudy and barely 50F, so a tad chilly.

Red course at WCOC event at Huntington SP. Sunny, cool (50F) day with a breeze but wonderful in the woods. Nice woods and nice course by Joe B and Earl L. Ran OK but spent way too much time relocating after drifting left on control 7. Off a bit on 2 and 9. Chose not to take the obviously faster road route to 11 and then didn't execute well in the first segment in the woods (heading right around the hill to hit the big trail). Coulda, shoulda, woulda been about 8 -10 minutes faster. But great to be running in the woods.

SL distance 5.9 km.

An exploration of the new "Brother's Trail" starting from Olivia's Overlook parking, including a foray across the road up to Monk's Pond and back. Missed the trail junction on the way out so did a bit of exploring of some woods roads which aren't quite on the BNRC land (must have been running with my eyes closed to have missed the junction - D'oh!). Found the trail just fine on the return. Did have a few challenges following trails in other places due to downed leaves.

The new trail is a masterpiece of trail building, with stone steps and cut nicely into the slope to make it side-to-side level throughout. The only thing missing is trail markers at this point (and the final set of stairs at the Richmond-Lenox Road terminus, which was being constructed as I passed). The trail passes through some very nice woods, including by one large reentrant which elicited a "Wow!" from me due to it's size and openness.

A brisk day, with the temperature just under 50F and a breeze. Dry underfoot.
